Hey guys! Just signed up here, I'm the new owner of this car. I've been friends with Pete for a while now and always told him I'd buy it if he were to sell it! I already have a standing offer on his new M3 haha. Anyways, I have been continuing on with the car and have some big plans for it. Here's a shot of it with one of my other cars the day I picked it up:
and when he dropped it off, which included the bike rack which I'm going to be using a lot this summer:
Here's also how the engine bay looked:
I have a wrinkle black valve cover on order and plan on doing a few more small things to clean it up.
Only about 2 weeks after getting it I was driving through the back roads of Hoboken and I hit on of the worst potholes in town. When I got home I didnt notice anything too bad but the next morning I came down to a lake of oil under the car. Turns out I put a slight crack in the oil pan and it leaked out most of the oil. I was able to get the car towed up to Autocouture Motoring where the work is currently under way. Since its a sawp, the oil pan is not a factory S50 pan. Its from an E34 525i which took a while to track down as did the proper gasket.
While the car was at the shop I signed up for my first track day at NJMP to see what the E30 can do! I placed an order for a set of TRMotorsport C1 15x7 wheels, 205-50-15 Direzza Star Specs, Hawk DTC-60 Front pads, and Hawk HT-10 rear pads.
I got the pads and new wheels installed this past weekend and will be taking the car to NJMP this friday.
If anyone sees the car, feel free to come by and check it out, always good to meet more car guys!
ps- The BBS RS's are off the car and are for sale, I just picked up a set of Alpina reps for daily use since the BBS wheels are way too nice for the roads I drive and I wanted them off before I damaged them in any way.Current rides: E63 M6 - E36 M3 - E53 X5 - B6 A4 USP

Dave, see you at NJMP ;)
I'll be there with my car but will likely be in the LeMons car.
Any reason why you chose the DTC60 up front and HT10's in the back? The DTC60 is a bittier pad are you looking to increase front bias or was that what you had lying around?IG: deniso_nsi Leave me feedback here

My friend ran that setup in his E30 325 last year and loved it so I took his suggestion on that one, I'll see how I like it this weekend
And yes, the car does have a skit plate, did not help one bit actually it just bent right into the oil pan. Going to look around to see if there are better options on the market.Current rides: E63 M6 - E36 M3 - E53 X5 - B6 A4 USP

Look into the Peerless Plate. Its practically indestructible.
Sad to see the BBS go, while their absolutely perfect for the car, your right, NYC roads will destroy them.
I better see this beaut at Gfest! ;)1985 325e M50TU(Sold)

^Checking them out now, thanks! Yea, the BBS's are in mint shape and I'd hate to ruin them so best to sell.
Not going to make it to GFest, I'll be in North Carolina that weekend.
A couple more updates on the car... I picked up a set of black floor mats and a black carpet will be going in. I have a roll bar on order and will be doing some custom work to finish the interior :)Current rides: E63 M6 - E36 M3 - E53 X5 - B6 A4 USP

Had some difficulties at the track but still managed to have a great weekend! Met some really awesome guys who were more than willing to lend a hand and help, can't thank you guys enough
On friday I had the car all packed up and ready for the weekend:
I began to start hating the gearing about 10 minutes into the trip.... I'll be needing a 2.93 LSD if anyone has one for sale :)
Finally made it down to NJMP to meet up with some good friends and fellow BMW drivers:
Saturday morning we were all setup and ready to go for lightning. This was my first track event ever so I was excited to get out there:
I got teamed up with a fellow E30 driver as an instructor. He was awesome and really taught me a lot this weekend, well mostly just that I need to use the gas pedal more haha. Unfortunately, during the second session the car started bogging down and had zero power. It was very intermittent and made the car impossible to drive on the track. I pulled off and started the diag process:
There was a slight oil leak but nothing else noticeable. We cleaned out the intake and it was still there.
Couldn't figure it out after checking the fuel filter, MAF, etc... So decided to start celebrating the holiday properly
The next day dude8383 helped me out big by looking over the car and giving his input, we think its the crank position sensor so I ordered one and will be replacing it this week. Here's a shot of my car parked next to his S52 swapped E30:
I couldn't get my car sorted to drive on Thunderbolt for sunday, but fortunately a new friend let me drive his spec E36 for a couple sessions. Let me say I'm absolutely hooked now and know I'll be spending waaayyy too much money on this sport in the future :) Here's the E36:
Overall it was an amazing weekend and I met some of the nicest people going. The car ran like a champ on the way home and hasn't given me any issue since, I plan on doing a bunch of preventative maintenance in the next few weeks to make sure it stays running great. Thanks again to everyone for their help! I look forward to seeing you at future track days
And here's one more closing shot of some of the guys who helped me out
