The '84 318i I purchased a few weeks back had no stock airbox or MAF mounting brackets so the MAF has been just dangling from the intake manifold on the intake boot. After searching the internet for a stock airbox with no Luck and since I plan on swapping the motor eventually I've just decided to just make an aluminum heatshield with a mounting bracket and just use a cheap CAI in the meantime, any suggestions/tips/ideas?

the head shield is a good idea/ and is needed- use rubber hose on the top of the metal to act as a seal to the hood. do you have any type of filter on the MAF? get one-FREEDOM- is cruisin at 80, windows down and listening to the perfect song-thinking "this is it"

The real problem is that it isn't mounted whatsoever, I really need some ideas as to mount it, It isn't close enough to the brace coming up from the fender which is what I assumed it was mounted to at some point but I could be wrong. And I'm not driving the car till I have this issue fixed so no worries on it not having a filter at the moment.
