Welcome to the world of E30 ownership! Looks like a solid starting place from what you've posted (although I'd hold off on posing next to newer Bimmers until you've done some cosmetic work!).
As for the coolant light, E30's are a pain to bleed the coolant in. Make sure that it's done properly, or you may end up cooking your engine.
