If you don't feel like reading what I have to say here is the quick rundown-
I have a 1991 318is with a no good engine.
I am going to swap in a Mopar 318 engine inside, and have it be a "TRUE 318"
Funny funny guy eh?
Well looks like it has come to this....
The motor blew in my 1991 318is, more specifically the timing guides blew, but the chain was still on so I had my fingers crossed that the motor wasn't blown. I tore apart the motor, and put it in all new timing guides and chain and sprockets....finally once I had that all done I was able to turn the motor over and check the compression, the compression reads 1=70 2=70 3=170 4=180...Yeah not so good. So I am gonna assume I have bent valves etc....
Was pretty irritated with the condition of the motor from what previous owners had done with it, so many stripped out bolts and botched stuff that I was slowly but surely fixing....and rebuilding this motor just doesn't sound like that much fun- tearing off the head and new pistons, valves etc....Just doesn't sound like it is worth it to me for the price it will cost, and what I will get out of it- another M42 engine.
SO..........My first thought from when I bought this car was, ooooh I want a 318, 318is. Yes people, we are talking MOPAR here.
And now that the motor is blown, it looks like it is going to happen.
Pic of said car-

And just so you don't roll your eyes thinking it is another worthless shade tree mechanic idea, here is my bike I just built. (Not finished with this bike yet still some bits and pieces to change around, but I got to tired of just building and not riding)
It is a 900rr frame with a 1137 blackbird motor stuffed inside, and a VFR single sided swingarm....so yeah I kind of have a thing for motor swaps. ;)
