    Time for an update...

ERL and Callies fixed the crank in a weeks time! The even put a billet reluctor wheel on there.

The motor was finally built the second time around and Tony was able to build it the second time around and treat it carefully as if it were his own.

And then off to Westech for break in and power pulls.

    The monsters they build here...GEEZUSSS
    GT40

350Z drift car with Dodge Nascar motor 900hp

    Whats under here?

    Motor hooked up

    The offiical numbers?
    659.5HP 592.2TQ

    And the video:

Now time to get it in the car for a bimmerfest due date!

I've seen the update via FB. I can't imagine what the hp/tq of 6XX.xx/5XX.xx will be like in an e36. I'm not going to actually blow the lid off, so I'll let Ryan actually update this.

I've heard nothing but the best things about the guys you are working with from my brief time on the CF boards. Can't wait to see this thing on the road!

Ok Ok...since you inquired. Here is the motor last Monday 3/17

    Break in..................................check
    low rev sweeps........................check
Beginning to open the throttle....timing starts jumping!

Change some things and move some things around then try start the motor....backfire
To be a thorough we pull off the crank position sensor and BAM! The reluctor wheel that is supposed to be pressed on is loose and you can spin it with your pinky. The reluctor that was supposed to be pressed on had shaken itself loose.

Result? now the motor need to come back apart. The great thing is that ERL is standing behind their motor 100% and Tony Mamo is on board to help out so within a weeks time, the motor is back apart and the crank is already on its way to Callies in Ohio to have a new billet wheel put on and tack welded to replace the faulty GM piece.

I am so glad that all this has happened on the engine dyno. If it was installed in the car it would have been a MAJOR nightmare trying to trouble shoot it.

This demonstrates the reason why I deal with companies/people that enjoy and take pride in what they do. Both Tony and ERL have gone above and beyond what I have expected to fix this with urgency and without any money out of my pocket. I still may make Bimmerfest! So my fingers are crossed!

Soo.... even with the timing jumping all over the place, the motor was making 500ft/lbs of torque on the bottom end! Let's see what she will do when she is all back together again. New engine dyno date is on the 23rd.

    Will report back soon.
