E34 mounts still looked new on my old car even after 7000miles

Got the car started! We had a few problems getting it started for apparently NO reason because I usually get this wiring harness thing always right. Before I tried starting the car I had to make sure, for peace of mind, that I was getting power to my fuel relay and fuse 11 (fuel pump). I had no power to either of them, and I didn't even try starting the car. I tried troubleshooting the problem for probably 3 hours. Then I said fuck it and just tried cranking the car over and over until it magically shot out gasoline, which it did, then I hooked up the line and we got it to fire. It doesn't make sense cause I still don't have power to my fuel relay or fuse 11, and the fuel pump relay doesn't even click haha. Weird, but whatever, it works

the vacuum leaks kill it out, I don't even have an intake boot, and there are zero vacuum lines attached haha. Very excited though.

You used the e34 motor mounts on that old car right? Any long-term problems?

    New project looks great!

seemed like more work than necessary, I would have probably pulled it if I had to do it again though.

Thanks! Yeah I'm trying to build it up as best I can with the budget I have haha.

    motor is in

got power to everything, just gotta get the motor ready to start (MAF isn't there, coil packs aren't attached completely)

Though my starter is sparking a WHOLE LOT and spins very very slowly, don't know what it is.

The reason tou shouldnt use the coilovers without revalved shocks is because there isnt enough shock travel. If you lower it the right amount & dont slam it, youll be fine without the $800 revalved shocks, Im planning on doing the coilover conversion, going low but not dumped, and getting the shocks a few months later.

Looks like a good build, although those wheels are too heavy for a racecar

I'm skipping a lot through parts but to recap, when I got the car it did not have brakes on any corner, now it has a bitchin Brembo/hawk pad setup all around, it was on stock springs with terrible shocks and now it's on GC coilovers 600/500lbs on bilsteins. The bushings were really good on the TAB's and subframe so we didn't touch that, the CAB's are getting replaced to M3 ones.

The motor setup is a NV M50 with a Getrag 240 that I got for free.

Got a bit more done...things got a bit carried away so I'll just post the pics in chronological order.

So we kinda started with something that looks like this

Then in the midst of cleaning my engine bay a little more..

    And yeah......

Don't really remember how, but they ended up looking this good.
GC 500lb's in the front, brembo rotors and bilstein shocks

    Looking really good mocked up!

Also got the peerless skid plate hooked up! This thing is awesome!

Next and final episode: Engine and trans ;)

cause some ppl on BF.com swore up and down I was going to fail at life if i didnt get the same 1700 complete coilover's they paid for. I just bought some bilsteins when I got my car and can not justify spending 1700 on suspension for this car when the coilover conversion works so well!
But i hate bimmerforums. they were so pissed with me cause i was asking for advice but wouldnt build my own car how they were telling me to.they said I will only get sideways if I have a 1700 suspension set up.haha
whats your spring rates on that bad boy??
You can build your car any way you want to. Bf.c is quite biased however their advice to match spring and shock combinations is completely justified. As a spring mass system, you can have a underdamped, overdamped, and critically damped system. If you are running stiff as shit springs with soft as fuck shocks/struts, you are far to underdamped and just riding on the spring rates. However, that being said, you can run your car any way you like, dampers are not all that control MaD tIgHt drifto oversteerz or whatever it is you're doing.....
