"WE" will not be at VIR this year. Too many conflicts.
However, it's starting to look like I will be at VIR co-piloting an E36 with Team SFR (more commonly known at TRM Tuning).
Sebring, however, is on the list for this year.
Daytona was a blast, even if it did end early.
Some more in-car from the weekend.

still lovin' this thread. Hope to see you guys out at VIR, where you'll undoubtedly be flying past our lowly ETALeave a comment:

I was out there watching and hanging with a couple of local teams. Your car looked great out there. I was damn close to having a drivers' seat in the "Catch Me If You Can" Integra, but a few factors kept me out.
Myself and a few friends are prepping a Miata for Sebring in September. Watch our for "Wolf Pack Racing" coming soon!Leave a comment:

Daytona. 14 Hours.
Awesome. The event was more or less a 'vacation' for most of our team. All of our wives came. Family came from all over(From Chicago to Orlando to Atlanta). We had a great time. Saturday was relaxed and fun seeing old friends. Raceday with those friends/teams was great!
We had found after the last race we didn't even have the motor we were claiming we had. So we fixed this and got a rebuilt head to replace the ETA head we had. All was going well and running in 10-20th place for the first few stints. Our normally slowest driver took us from 45th to 18th after his first pit stop(second stint). Was awesome. 3rd driver an electrical gremlin jumped into our engine bay. It seemed our AFM was acting up. We had to pit multiple times. Checked wiring. Run 3 laps. Comes back. Final fix? Our main mechanic got pissed at our antique fuel/air measuring devices given to us by BMW in the 80s and slammed the AFM and said "Send It". Magic... that worked the rest of the day. We were now in the 50s.
Rich ran the rest of his stint. I jumped in. No incidents except running out of fuel earlier than we thought while I was in the car. I did run the fastest lap of the day for the team in the 12-2 time period. Had one close call with a really bad dive bomb from a car. Almost were collected in the Bus Stop at two other times(Our 2nd stint and 6th stint).
Our final end to the weekend was a rocker arm letting loose in our newly rebuilt head. Let loose with ~5 hours to go. On an upshift. We had not been revving it out to max revs all day. 5.5K-6K. Shift at ~5800 rpm and grab 4th. Healthy engine to pit lane limiter just like that! Thanks for the good times everyone!
Fun starts ~20 seconds.

Road Atlanta. 35 Degrees. 14 Hours. It's going down!
This event we were very serious. We went into the event with high hopes and will continue with those high hopes during the 2013 season. First off I want to thank our sponsors. TRM, Harrison Motorsports, Heritage Motorsports, BimmerWorld, Motorsports Hardware, The Consignment Shed, Awol Photo and Apex Performance. Don't forget MashUpDesignWorks who keeps out Black/Gold theme looking great! Awesome group of people and got us up to pace!
We loaded up on Friday and headed to the track. 2013 brought some new rule changes and a new head safety tech. The JAS breezed through tech and we were off to prep the car. One of our drivers/mechanics had been at Daytona, then COTA and then finally home so he had missed the last few work days. He got to work on the nut/bolt, alignment and some odds/ends.

Went out to eat with TRM and BimmerWorld. Went home to sleep! Get up and it is COLD. We pulled our car cover off and within minutes our car has frost on it. We fire it up to get it warmed up. We test the charging system and find we are charging at full capacity! Won't make the dead alternator mistake again! Get down to pit lane and start to get setup! We shared with TRM and BimmerWorld.

Green flag drops and we are off. Problem one arises. We had some almost complete dead Azenis 615K but found some used Star Specs with more tread. Bad purchase. VERY heat cycled out. Our first driver AKA "El Amazo" looped the car twice. Once on a restart. Unfortunately this meant a 2 minute black flag to get his head straight. At this point we did not know of the second spin so Blake rushes to an official to get the story... find out about spin two. Enjoy...

We race and run a 1hr30min stint.

We get news from the radio the spins are due to the heat cycled tires. They won't come up to temp. We decide to let driver 2 confirm that. Put him in and he loops it once. He runs a 1hr30min stint without incident.

I get in and we run it hard. We follow that up with our 4th driver getting in and he runs it even harder. We started near the back and are now solidly in the Top 20! He also sets out FTD of 1.51 flat. We swapped out the rear tires... time to throw away that junk!

Second minor issue. We had decided as a team to run our old PFC08 pads. We decided that they would make it. Turns out with a faster rental driver. Blake and I pushing hard on an actually well setup car now(both dropping multiple seconds off our laps) that we are going to run close to killing the pads. We have to stop and pad slap it. Blake and I knock that out. Took about 20 minutes.
At this point it is getting dark. We have 2 drivers left. Me and Blake. Time for the party lights and to finish the race!

Our best finish yet at a full event! 17th of 68th! As noted we had some minor issues and the reality is we could have easily cracked the top 10. A top 5 was not out of the question. Need to polish our stops. Not cheap out on new brake pads. Make some fast fill fuel jugs. Awesome event. Awesome race.
Daytona 14 Hours in 3 months! If you are in Florida we invite you to come out and meet the team and watch the race!Leave a comment:
