I'd say a big "YES" on the M3-style antenna. I'll do that to my car at some point as well. Props for continuing to bring this one back!! -

^Yes she does have a bit of a noisy valve train to her. It will be fixed eventually. Looking for a good head... Would look for a replacement motor but this one has so many miles on it that I want to keep it original.

Dropped the car off at the body shop after tucking the rear bumper, swapping to a late model front valence, and removing much of the trim. I don't trust body shops to do trim removal under most circumstances. You always end up with missing fasteners and broken clips.
They are repairing all the dents (that they find), doing some rust repair on the rear of the car, and giving her a complete respray of the original Alpine. They are going to respray the trunk area and delete the antenna hole too. I had thought about doing an m3 "rc" car style antenna but I am not sure. What do you guys think?

Went to get a look at the car and see what had been done. Not a whole lot... I told them to take their time. They did manage to get all the dings out of the driver side and the roof. They said they were going to hit it hard today and finish the dents and start on the rust repair next week.
Here is how she was. I had pulled the glass for them earlier in the week.

Great job. Love the gearing of the etas for daily and highway driving. 90 at 3 grand, can't beat it.Leave a comment:

^Thanks... it's coming along for sure.
Grab a couple of thicker cloths... like microfiber or something and the factory flathead screwdriver in the trunk. Push the microfiber cloth under the roundel with the tip of the screwdriver... then slowly pry. Be gentle but deliberate. The two pins are on the left and right side so you could also try going from one side to the other. Works every time.
I have run ebay chips before and they are all copies of legit chips. I might buy one in the future but for now I am enjoying being able to use regular fuel (87) and getting 30+ mpg.
Ummmmm...

Added some flair for the quarter panel windows... unfortunately these are the v1 stickers so they will flake and peel after a couple of months. Oh well.

Had my exhaust guy weld the Ansa muffler onto the car. Started it up after he was done and it was too quiet so I had him cut out the factory resonator as well. Now it is the perfect blend of sport and volume for a daily car.
Below is a video... don't mind the horrendous drivetrain noise. I am going to rebuild the head this year sometime to alleviate that... assuming the problem isn't piston slap which will be eliminated as a possibility before doing the head of course.
She goes in for paint next week! Stay tuned ladies and gentlemen.Last edited by Schnitzer318is; 02-09-2012, 02:29 PM.Leave a comment:
