So, I think the project is going to become an s5x swap.
Reasons being:
1. My daily driver lost its head gasket today, so it needs some money thrown at it.
2. The legality issues of running a turbo car here in CA is very risky, I can't afford to get an impounded car back.
3. S5x can be legal and should be able to be done cheaper than this build will be.
4. S5x should be more reliable
Maybe more, those are the main ones.

So let me get this right.. For airbag cars the spacers DO NOT go on the steering nuckle but on the rack/cross member?
As far as I know, both airbag and non-airbag cars need spacers on the rack/cross member, because the e36 rack mounts are smaller than the e30.
Airbag cars don't need any modification to the knuckle, while airbag cars need spacers added.
