Being new here I thought i'd start one of these threads to keep me motivated and contribute to the forum a bit!
This is my 2nd e30, I had one as a winter beater back in the day that I bought for $400 and drove into the ground, but due to the body being trash didn't bother fixing it when the fuel pumps died.
I just recently picked up a 86' 325e Bronzit Coupe for $650 in need of a few big things, and a longer list of smaller things. :) The PO was really young and hacked pretty much everything he did on the car it seems, his Dad just wanted it out of the garage. Body is decent, will never be perfect but as long as it corners I'm happy.
I'm aiming for the car to be ready for the spring at the earliest. Car will be used for running errands and auto-x / track days, I live in the city and don't need a car everyday, I've gotten by for the last 5 years with out one, but this will make life easier and more fun :)
Heres a couple pics, terrible quality I know. (if anyone knows why the pictures are sideways I would really appreciate it, always happens on forums for me. Shot with my iphone, they appear properly on my mac but then when I post them they are rotated!!!!!)


And how it currently sits waiting for some warmer weather (the sunroof didn't seem like it was closed properly, and when I went to crank it from inside it was really rough and the metal handle broke off, so will be needing a new cassette!)

I'm a noob so any advice you can give about the following list would be appreciated! I'll be consulting the bentley and forums on my own as well.
Heres the list so far that needs to be done: UGH what have I gotten myself in to!

-Replace Brakes / Rotors / Stainless Lines on all 4 corners, possibly will rebuild the calipers. (Hawk HPS Pads)
-Replace Shocks / Springs (I was set on Bilstein Sports and H&R Race but am contemplating the BC Coils although I've had cheap Megan coils before on another car and was far from impressed with them, so need to do some more research)
-Poly Bushings / Subframe / Diff Mount
-Wheels and tires (looking for some 14 or 15" mesh of some sort, if not i'll go with bottlecaps)
(smaller stuff)
-Replace sunroof cassette that I broke with my superhuman strength and deal with sunroof alignment.
-Drivers Door lock is sticky and needs to be fixed
-Trunk Cylinder doesn't pop out once its pressed
-One of the mounting points for the rear plate is rusted through about the size of a quarter, will be cutting this out and welding in new
-remove all the ghetto stereo wiring!!! it looks like he had a "system" in it lol. He used a 2x4 as some sort of terminal!
-Some sort of power leather seats were installed but never wired, I assumed they were from a BMW but was afterwards told they might be from a Volvo (ugh! nothing wrong with volvo but wanted to keep it in the family) The rears are just sat in place, so who knows if they even fit. Otherwise they are black leather and in good shape so we'll see.
-Steering Wheel is a Grant GT leather wheel which is installed no where near Centre, its almost upside down! Trying to decide whether or not to keep it, I'd rather have a stock wheel I think.
-Shifter surround needs to be replaced
-Front and Rear Bumper Tuck
-Repaint Black Body Trim
-Polish Glass / Lenses
