    My Vert...Now Procharged

Alright, I've been putting this off for long enough and finally decided to PROPERLY introduce my new project. About 2 years ago,(yes 2 years) after having lots of fun in my e39 540i6, I was getting the itch to get into another e30. It had been almost 10 years since my last one and watching 'schnitzer318is' build his was eating away at me. So I sold the 5'er and bought a 24v swapped e30 vert I found here on r3v. You may remember the car...

After a 39 hour drive from New York City to San Antonio Texas, she made it in one piece. I got her washed up and detailed for an upcoming coffee and rides when I found out the hard way how awesome having functioning ABS was. I had only had her 4 days.

At this point, thinking that things could not possibly get worse....I find out they can. Insurance tells me that the damage exceeds the cars worth, and will be totaling it out. This part of the story can get VERY long so instead I will just let you know that after getting a lawyer involved, I get my car back....basically as is. :hitler:

It is at this point, I realize I have a whole slew of other problems lurking beneath the surface. Wiring, rust, more bad wiring, and occasional lower back pain. Over the next year, I would be replacing, repairing, and buying lots of parts to help get her back on the longterm road again. I also found out that finding and getting a driver fender for a vert is no easy task.

But little by little I get her going again. New plugs, starter, custom rebuildable driveshaft, ignition switch, thermostat, smiley headlights, and eurogrills are all added. Upgraded Brakes are also on the way.

Thanks to Joseph, (aka schnitzer318is) I am able to get a hood and front bumper right away. Then finally, I get a fender.....time for paint.

Now every single one of my previous BMW's have been schwarz. I love the look of a clean detailed black bmw. Unfortunately, I hate cleaning them....all the time....every day. So I decide I may change the color since I'm already painting the hood, bumper, fender, and valance. I just need to decided what color. AAAAHHHGGGGGG!!! I have no freakin idea what color to paint it. So on my way to the BMW Center to pick up parts for work, I finally make my pick.

This is my Crimson Red (karmesinrot) E30....

    Next to Joseph's m42 turbo...

And gratuitous "you've come a long way" shot..... lol

I'm also taking apart some style 42's to polish the lips and paint the centers. Any suggestions?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, thanks again Joseph for the help.

Sorry for my 'cool story bro' moment, but it's been hell trying to get her to this point and I hope to bring some more surprises in the near future. Hint, I need megasquirt.

And by the way, I finally made it to Coffee And Rides...

    Basic Specs
    m52b28 with zf tranny
    GC coilovers, e30 m3/318ti 5 lug swap
2.93 LSD that will be replaced with a 3.25 LSD
    S52 cams (Not installed yet)

i think the black was sexier! Hard to keep clean...but in my opinion, nothing looks better than a detailed black car.

          And you're wrong.

First... she has definitely come a long way man. I didn't mind helping and don't mind in the future obviously. I'm just glad I was there to help you uncover everything that needed fixing after the accident... and of course help out with locating parts. AKA, pulling them out of my shed.

Second, Mouse is being extremely PC about the car. We flew from San Antonio to New York to pick her up. Eloy and I drove it... felt ok but had a problem with temperature creeping up. PO said it was just a bad temp gauge and nothing was actually wrong. This was the first of MANY things we found to be wrong with the car... it was not a gauge problem. Luckily the car got us back to San Antonio after a 37 hour drive or so, lol was that fun. You should post the shot of us pulled over at 4 AM with no tags man.

This car (sorry Eloy) should have cost half of what was paid for it. It had rust... lots of it, and still has some. Eloy had to replace parts of the underbody due to rusted out transmission mounts, center support, and a few other places if I remember correctly. We had to redo a VERY large portion of the wiring when the car was involved in the accident because of a very poor job done by one of the PO's, not sure if it was the seller.

Anyway I could go on and on about how the car was mis-represented and over priced, but it is a beautiful vehicle now and will only continue to improve. Looking forward to seeing where you take the car in the future man. Also, the accident was probably the best thing that could have happened as it revealed all the shit that was wrong with the car and correct it before going to the body shop.

Just a quick update of my e30. Finally got around to going F/I. Took her out to the 1/4 mile track to see how she would do. Still need to get a proper dyno tune but was still running pretty well. I was running out there with Joseph(schnitzer318is) in his turbo m42 but he was having some wastegate issues. He may chime in here and upload some videos of his own.

13.67 @ 105mph... I was jelly. She looked really good (and pretty darn quick too) going down the track. Looking forward to some dyno numbers on it. It's got to be darn near 300hp with those times and the weight of the car.

Wish mine had performed better but I guess 14.9 @ 96mph is still respectable for a little m42. I'll see if I can get my wastegate issue taken care of and maybe make it out to the track one more time...

PS: Rename the thread title to include "blown" or "procharged" and "videos" to get some traffic up in here. You posted that vid 2 hours ago and no comments?

There ya go Joe. I can't wait til you work those issues with the M42. Hopefully I can come back to SA in a few weeks and work on those times more.

Next will be the coilovers. I fixed the left front side about a year ago and now the right side is waffled up. Good news is most of the big issues have been ironed out. I know these cars aren't made for 1/4 mile but love seeing them out on the straights sometimes.

Still need to run the catch can and make a "down" pipe or tube for the MAF for a more laminar flow but all in all coming along great.
