Have good news!! Rev-hang is finally gone!!

Last week I seafoamed the car, and been running hellof additives in the gas to clean up the engine some. Today, I changed the oil and spark-plugs since from the beginning of my swap i've been using some previously used s50 spark plugs that were supposed to be temporary, but ended up being used long term.. The plugs ended up solving my stupid rev-hang issue, and all is well now. Engine doesn't hesitate anymore when it picks up :)

The old plugs were BAD! The electrodes were non-existent.. Should've been the first thing to replace.

Pics of plugs, from #1 cylinder to #6 respectively

    plug #1 and #2

    plug #3 and #4

    plug #5 and #6

    And just for reference :giggle:

    EDIT:

Going to also make another appointment with the ref station this thursday! Wish me luck

    Quick update..

Made an appointment with the ref station yesterday, and didn't do so well :-?.. Passed visual just fine, but failed emissions in almost all categories

Its more like a chunk missing than a crack. The bleeder screw was brand new, but if you look inside where the screw threads in, you'll see like a half circle chunk of plastic missing (surrounding the small bleeder hole)

Haven't updated this in a while. Didn't do much from last update, but took care of a few small things.

Replaced my odo gears with the garagistic plastic gears.. Installation went well, but unfortunately like a mile after I took this pic, the miles stopped ticking again :(. Been unmotivated to take it apart again since it seems like i took it apart a billion times already

Since my m20 rad was leaking, figured i'd go the m42 rad route. Bought a used one and tried her on

I liked how it cleaned up the bay a bit.. Then I soon found out this rad had a worse leak than my old one due to this (crack in the bleeder area)

m20 rad went back in :(

Then I tackled my exhaust leak. Had a major leak where the headers bolted up to the midpipe since I snapped a stud on each header. Bought a replacement set and installed with new gaskets and killed the leak! Car is MUCH quieter and actually picks up a bit in the top end, and I can actually hear the intake growl now :D

    old headers

    "new" ones

a short clip of what it sounds like. Vid actually sucks because I didnt go passed 3k and was recorded on my phone. All good and stock :)

Found out about a week ago that my car is due for smog in June! Sooo I have to haul ass and get that figured out ASAP as possible..

Just piece the motor together slowly. Took me about 6 months to gather all the parts..

And i hear its not too bad as long as you have all stock emissions components on the car like stock midpipe with cats/resonators, charcoal canister, stock intake from maf on, and as long as the motor is as stock as possible. This is basically why the m50 has been completely stock. Once its bar'd, gives me the green light to start giving it some goodies

And you're not doing the eta build anymore?? If you're doing the m50 swap, id be down to help whenever I'm available (a rare sight now-a-days)..

As for smog, once I situate the rev-hang problem, massive exhaust leaks, current CEL, and a few other small things; going to get the car BAR'd at solano.. Smog isnt due till the end of the year so I have a few months to get that fixed, but the sooner the better.
nice! i haven't ditched the m20 yet, still slowly working on the head in my room....
i just have 24v dreams that will never come true, hahahhaa.
so about BARing, how hard is it to get your car BAR'd?

She's currently out of order :(

Spent last weekend cleaning up some wires, and cleaned out the ICV thinking that was the culprit to the rev-hanging issue..

Sad to say it didnt do the trick, matter a factly... made the car worse. Check engine light popped up and car mildly bogs around 2.5k. Been driving my brothers e36 around, so e30's been sitting since. Once I get the time, and when it stops pouring rain i'll remove the icv to see what happened =/
