I'm in the process of sourcing an s14 to throw in.
I feel like the m20 is a tad bit too heavy to retain the handling that the 2002 is known for. But then again, I'm not a race car driver and never will be.

I'm so torn on what to do. I need to drive a few difference setups.
I'm hoping to drive an s14 powered, m20 powered, f20c powered, and even a turbo m10 powered 2002.

If you need some help on the car around thanksgiving, I'll be in town and could sacrifice a day to get your car going. I wouldn't mind that.

I would personally do an m20. Easy to come by and cheap.

I'd have to build an m20 if I were to go that route. Something worth putting in. I would honestly like to stay away from 6 cylinders if possible (budget).

thanks for the offer man, this thanksgiving week is going to be super busy for me. hate to make a day and bail out last minute.

s14 would be nice, fits well, good weight between front and back, but way to pricey to maintain.

the m20 is one of the easiest engines to maintain. and they run so smoothly. i think you would enjoy having that motor.

They go to the wheel wells, which are non-load-bearing sheet metal AFAIK. In all the cages I've interacted with (a fair few), the rear stays go to the trunk floor, on fat metal plates that also brace the diff mount.

I'm not saying it's ruined and terrible, it obviously isn't, but that would be the first thing a safety inspector would point out as a weak point.

Why not consider a M42 swap?

That's a good point and we actually discussed that with the guy doing the cage but since we are not actually racing or really tracking the car we were. Ok with it

building an m20 can easily exceed $5000 in short-block upgrades alone broseph. I will gladly pick up an s14 if I could find one in reasonable condition for a reasonable price. There is always a budget.

I picked up that s14 I mentioned looking for a year ago:
