Because I wanted to be like slammin'

Well, I may have a bit of a project ahead of me . . .

I picked up this '87 535is for a pretty good price. It's been repainted, and not well. So, mostly what I'll be doing is wet sanding and I will probably need to replace the hood and drivers front fender.

Also, they interior needs to be cleaned something awful.

On the upside, the electrics are in good shape and the rust isn't too bad. Where it's bad, it can be replaced.

But, first things first. Mechanics. Needs a clutch and the M30 needs a tune up at 272,000 miles currently.

Anyway, here are some pics of the car on the trailer coming home.

Future plans: H&R race springs, billies, sound system upgrades (sub, amp etc. ), sunken bumpers, shadow line, euro grills and lights, style 5's, CLEAN, and drive the piss out of this thing. I'll keep you guys updated.

What is SeƱor Slammin's expert opinion?

Ya know the paint doesn't look half bad... Until you see it up close :o Good luck with it man, let me know if you ever want an extra hand.

      Early models do it better.

Pulled the tranny the other day.

(Threw on some borbets I had lying around too.)

        That's a bitch-a-roonydoony. I think I found the problem too. . .

The clutch was pretty well gone and it was warped to boot. The flywheel will get regroubd Monday and hopefully I can get this baby back on the road by the end I'd the week.

Also, check out my sweet tranny mounts!

        Think I should change them?

I want an e28 so bad , but i assume the M30 gets pretty turrable gas mileage.

Nice pick up. Im sure those mounts are fine.

Nasty! The trans mounts being soaked like that might mean that the output seal is toast.

M30s aren't necessarily bad on gas. My 535is gets 25mpg combined as long as I don't hoon around all day long. On long highway trips I've gotten low 30s.

                Cleaned up the tranny.

                Clutch back in.

                Much better!

Threw the tranny back in and took for a drive! Quickly found our that the ole 272K m30 needed a tune-up. So, I threw some plugs in and it made a huge difference. I'm not sure what I'm going to do for wheels yet. I have Some 16X8 Style 5's which need tires or the borbets that are previously pictured. (Currently mounted) Opinions? I'm leaning towards Weaves. Anyways, next up is a lot of cleaning and suspension work.

I'll second that, and I'm running a 3.73. Hoping to swap in a 2.93 and get 30s on my cross country trip a couple weeks from now.
E28s are great, huh? Once you get the car baselined, you can really set it up well.

I absolutely love this car. I'm running bone stock right now and I couldn't be happier. Although, I am getting a mandatory lesson in double clutching. 4th gear synchro is out.

I find that my e28 scratches itches that the e30 can't and vice versa.

Although, at this point, the e28 is the suspension/performance monster...

The m30 has SO much more power than my m42, it's ridiculous.
