Decided, since it's not going anywhere for a little while, it would be a good time to finally, properly wire my sound system.
Goodbye ghetto wiring.
like wtf
My favorite. I should really buy new keys for my headunit, or a new headunit. I kinda want Bluetooth.
Also need to figure out how I want to wire in my speakers. My car didn't come with premium sound so I don't have a factory amp. This means that the wires run directly from the headunit to the speakers. So, I have one of three-ish options. Either, run all new wires (don't really want to do this), cut the stock speaker wires from the headunit plug and only extend what I have to, or find another harness and mess with that.
Hmm...

Eww, I need to do that job but been putting it off for the longest time. Have a 85k subframe with a 3.73LSD in the back yard, it's been sitting there for almost a year from the parts car I had. I figured it to heavy for me to drop from the car alone to be honest.
Hope you get it on the road soon

DUUUDE sound is easy peasy. Front speakers in parallel with door tweets. Rear speakers straight off the HU. Depending on what speakers your using [I had Infinity reference front and back], but can sound killer with the rear premium speakers. You want the majority of the sound to come from the front like a concert. The rear should really only be for "filler" sound and bass should only come from the sub.
so my eq settings are little to no bass to speakers & a touch of mid [too much makes it sound muddy] so tweak mostly for highs. Set the fader a couple clicks forward, and as much sub as u want. You'll only be limited by power output of the headunit, but its always been plenty loud at 50w per channel.
I had the cleanest sound out of any e30 I've heard trust me ;D

It's really not too hard. Is the s4 radio capable of controlling a sub? My sub was just wired with an RCA cable from the h/u to the sub, speaker wires from the amp to the sub, a wire to control turning the amp on and off, a power wire for the amp, and a ground wire.

it's pretty simple once you look at it. I'll probably be doing up the wiring this weekend if you wanna stop by.
I mean that is definitely a possibility but apparently the wires bmw used are better than 99% of aftermarket speaker writes so I'm gonna try to use as much of the current harness as possible.

Got the wiring done today. Decided to run all new wires to avoid cutting up the stock harness.
What a shit show.
After we got all the wires routed on the inside.
Still need to figure out what to do with these wires.
God damn this shit is dirty.
Sounds pretty damn good, though. Needs some tuning but that won't come until I can safely run the engine. I'm sure my battery hates me.
