Which one is Scott? Jason is hell-bent on some Hella 500s.Comment

Some progress:
Skid plate arrived:
Went to the JY and picked up a sport seat (passenger side) and installed it on the driver's side of the car (perfect fit):
Replaced the sunroof crank with one that has a knob and retracts properly:
Also removed all of the A/C lines, compressor, fan, condensor, etc., picked up a 4.10 LSD, and grabbed some other small parts at the JY. Not a bad bit of progress.Comment

Scott is "scrowner" on the email list. He's the owner of the original e30 in this region rallycross. He doesn't do facebook so he's not on the dirty e30s page. You'll know him. He'll make fun of how "pretty" or "nice" your car is, lol.
Cool guy though....runs a V8 MGB in LeMons, runs e30 chumpcars, etc....
His team is the true definition of "budget" as compared to us....the literally don't do "upgrades," don't fix anything unless it breaks, and don't worry about cosmetics unless it's free. Hence why he'd like those guards, because they're ghetto (and because I heard him mention that he wished he had the fog guards at some previous event).Stage rally/rallycross e30 build/competition journal

Gotcha.
I am about to get some tires on order. The injectors should be in soon, and other than an oil change and the install of a few small parts that I have, the only thing left to do is register and drive it.Comment

pat, btw I still have 3/4 gallon of roll-on truck bedliner from doing my interior with it. If you guys are going carpetless, I highly recommend the bedliner - provides a bit of grip and seals up any potential rust spots. If you guys want to use some of the rest of it, have Jason come get it from my place before the next time he goes u there.Stage rally/rallycross e30 build/competition journal

Some progress:
Got the oil changed and installed the skid plate. I am sure that the front mounting configuration could be better, but I was pressed for time and running short on ideas on how to mount it. I went with self-tapping sheet metal screws with hex heads.
Clearance at the steering rack without any spacers:

Also got my new injectors installed:
Bought a spare set on here and sent them for a rebuild. I had a spare fuel rail from a past parts car, so I used that. Install went fine.Comment

Installed a new valve cover gasket. The old one was showing signs of leaking, so I thought that a new one woudl be a good idea while I was changing the oil.
I painted the VC while it was out of the car.
Overall, the head looks pretty clean:
And the leaking:
VC painted and installed:
Found this oil cap while stripping something:
Also saw this and noticed that it was broken. For now I will solder it together, but I'd like to buy a new one- whatever it is. What is this:
