Awesome, glad they were able to work it out with you do it all all (and properly) all at once for only a bit more.

Sounds like RP is a good place, I'll have to remember them if I ever decide to cage my E30.

Can't wait to see updates on the cage.

I actually feel a little bit bad about going with RP. Not because of anything with RP, but I had some communications with other BMW owners who own or work at their own automotive/race/fabrication and would have liked to have supported them, but time became a factor (cost as well, but mostly time). I like to support those who support my interests, but that did not work out in this case. Still, RP is enthiusiast-oriented, so it isn't like I abandined like-minded people and went with some big-market operation.

With Summit Point being only 20 minutes from me and actually being on my way home from work it was hard to pass up being able to drop the car off and be home in just over 90 minutes from home to RP and back. If I were to take it somewhere else it would be time off from work, which is getting in short(er) supply after my daughter was out with the flu all week last week and I had to burn about 20 hours of leave.

Also, with my tow vehicle being what it is, I don't like to tow more than I have to and the short trip to SP is not nearly as bad as would have been the trip to the other shops I was considering.

I spoke with RP today and the car might be finished by the end of the day tomorrow, but I don't want to try to tow it Friday, as we are calling for crappy weather. If it is done tomorrow I might get it after work. If not, it will probably be early next week.

More updates as I get them!

I have Bilstein HDs all around. One of the reasons that I was willin got pay $900 for a dented a non-driver was that it already had HDs on it, so I never mentioned them in the build.

If I had a little more money, I'd buy Konis during the annual Shock Value sale (which starts soon), but the Bilsteins seem to be doing well so far.

The Konis would be more flexible if I ever track the car (assuming that I swap wheels/tires/pads, of course) but the Bilstein HDs are valved just like the Bilstein Sports that are used for SpecE30, so they can't be THAT bad.

I am re-painting the whole car- properly- this summer so it will be all one color. No more rainbow warrior.

I have a compressor and gun and will strip it down and redo it all the right way after I get the mechanicals sorted.

No rear hoop diagonal? You may want to check that the cage will be legal without one for any of the groups you want to run with.

Interesting about the supports for the harness bar to the trans tunnel, I don't think I've ever seen that in a cage.

I will have to check on that, but as I will probably only do HPDEs in this car and with them not requiring a cage at all, I should be fine.
