    Platinums E30 (my first)

Hey guys. I made a few other post when I was getting my first e30 a few weeks ago. Whelp this is my project car and it needs a lot of work, so here starts my project thread.

    1985 325e
    Stuff that was already done:
M20 "I" motor out of a 88 325is (new injectors, timing belt, head studs
89+ Plastic bumper mod (needs work)
    3.73 LSD
Lowered with h&r and Billy's (back struts are Bad though)

Also came with a extra 88 manual trans
    And other parts.

    It runs pretty good

    Urgent needs:
    Brakes
Steering rack (e36 rack included with car)
    Rear struts
New shifter bushings ( late model rod style shifter included)
    Exhaust

    Not so urgent:
    Fix the plastic bumper fitment
    Body work
    New seats
    Paint
    IS lip
    Figure out the rear apron
Kill the rust before it gets un kill able (only a few spots

    Wants:
    Wheels
    Euro stuff
    Maybe 5.0 motor haha

Hear she is ready for the 5 hour ride home

    Here she is at home

And we begin e36 rack in

That's where I stand no. Had to order new tie rod assembly due to me stripping one the studs, and then not being able to get the outer tie rod off the inner do to being fused together by rust smh.

I have the tie rods on the way as well as rear struts and a m30 air flow meter.

Will keep this updated as I go.
    Peace

        Nice start!
Dont put a 5.slow in there pls. Learn your car first then think about a bmw engine swap. An s50 in stock forum will pull better numbers than a 5.0

Okay cool yeah I'm not dead set on the 5.0, I just used to have one so kinda biased to them

Nice start, but I'd have to agree on no 5.0. So many good BMW engine choices there's no need to go with a 5.0. But it's your car, to each his own I guess.

Yeah I appreciate the advice a motor swag is a ways down the line so I'm not worried I would probably go with a BMW motor just to keep it all BMW.

Whelp I'm done for the night out of a little frustration. I started to change out the rotors and glanced at the rear struts since I will be replacing soon, to see how there mounted. Well what I saw was not a pleasant surprise.

That's the driver side sway bar mount that's suppose to be attached to the trailing are. Whelp it's completely broken off. Luckily I already order some reinforcement mounts.

And here is the real bummer

The top passenger side sway bar mount is broken off.

Is that rear sway bar absolutely needed?
What do you recommend I do?

And this next pic is my LSD. Is it supposed to be that black definitely looks like something has leaked over time.
                  Suggestions??

You probably need new differential seals and o-rings. I need to do mine soon.

Atleast your car has the plastic bumper conversion.

Got a little work done. Replaced rear billy shocks and got one rear rotor on then the Mosquitos started to eat me alive.

                          Old shocks:

                          New shocks:

Excuse the crappy exhaust that will be fixed soon.

New tie rods should be here Friday.
Still gotta figure out what to do about that rear sway mount issue though.

So rims were one of the last things I was going to the 30. I want to focus my time and money on the important stuff first then cosmetics later, But this deal was unbelievable and I couldn't pass it up. 15x8 XXR 522's et0... What size tires you recommend? I'm running billies with H&R springs

Pick up a set of reinforcement plates for the upper sway mounts. Few companies sell em...Turner comes to mind. Its a must with aftermarket sways. Check your fronts too...there probably showing signs of breaking.
