Are you going to make it a roadster 02? I hope that nothing gets in the way with this build. And that it doesn't become one of those unfinished, for sale projects. This is the most interesting build I am reading at the moment right up there with the custom 914(Anklebiter). Keep up the good work.

Subframes aren't a part of the unibody. Custom mounting points can be made.

    disassembly...

    its kind of sad...

    my monster rear end

4.10lsd, ca tuned axles, large wheels bearings, e46 brakes....

    braking power was awesome....

my front suspension coming off... tii struts, bilstein sport struts, eibach springs, 300mm bbk

    back to the s2000 chassis.
s52 is a long engine, the way the s2000 chassis setup comes into my favor here.
    Its a a longer chassis by ~ 4 inches
Meaning strut mounts are forward by 7 inches compared to the 2002.
The Electronic power steering sits forward and sub frame stretches far back for mounting.
I will need to cut the fire wall slighty to fit the large lump.
The s52 is ~ 53 inches long... from the teeth of the crank pulley to the shifter.

which is about 3-4 inches behind the stock shifter position not to bad.

on my way to Long island, NY to pick up the s2000..... tolls were killer!

Stuck under a tunnel for hours............. I hate NY, never again!

Finally Home and pics of the s2k, sorry a little dark.....

    -Today

I started ripping the 2002 apart and start making measurements

So far the engine looks like it will fit..... not really, looks like i might have to hack up the firewall. The s52 sale is pending. I am thinking of just selling the s52 so i can avoid hacking up the firewall.... annnnnd goin f20c.... My other option in use the stock e36 oil pan but that will buy me only a few inches. Not enough for what im doing. I need to think about how im going to proceed.

another issue would be shifter location... it would probly be far back....
maybe something like this would work.... I feel it wouldn't work as well....

    Chassis comparison

    s2k
Interior frame to frame across is 52 inch
strut mount to strut mount is 37 inch
    Wheel base 94.5 inch
track width outside tire 68.9 inch

    bmw 2002
Interior frame to frame across is 50.5 inch
Strut mount to strut mount is 42 inch
    Wheel base 98.4 inch
Current track width w/ big wheels 65 with ~ 2 inch flare clearance
