Lorin, if you could just shoot an audio clip.... say 30min long, I'd like to play it the car and pretend its mine.

Carb tuning and getting a rev limiter are next .

Haha! The sound certainly does not encourage you to lift your foot once it is pressed! Hence the need for a r3v limiter, the rod bolts are the weak link RPM wise on 3.2 engines. You don't get a second chance.

I was in a mad thrash to get this car on the road so picture quality/quantity suffered.

I wanted to have all the cables, etc exiting the rear of the tunnel finished before the power unit went in so that was my main focus. New heater control cables and housings were installed along with a new clutch cable and heater hoses. Everything except the throttle rod which doesn't really wear.

The two holes you see in the tunnel are for the shift rod and the speedo wires.

One of the heater cable pinch bolts broke when i removed it and the one i ordered was wrong so i made one out of a fuel injection clamp screw.

There is a lot of activity in the tunnel of these cars, 2 nylon fuel lines, throttle rod, clutch cable, metal pipe for the brake booster, metal vent line for fuel tank, 2 parking brake cables, 2 heater control cables, and shifter rod. I think that is it.

When i hooked up the new clutch cable and reattached the throttle cable it just didn't feel right. The throttle rod was really noisy when you hit the gas pedal and the clutch cable was just odd.

Figured out the throttle rod was missing 3 soft plastic guide bushings so i ordered those. The clutch cable had one of the nylon fuel lines sort of wrapped around it and the fuel line was mostly laying on the bottom of the tunnel, not in it's guides next to the other fuel line.

Here you can see the throttle rod, clutch cable and the side of one black fuel line on the roof of the tunnel.

Some investigation showed fresh porsche labels on the poorly (dangerously) routed fuel line, someone had replaced it and not bothered to route it where it was supposed to go. Oh well, i wanted to replace all the rubber fuel lines anyway.

Good thing i filled the tank up last time i drove it, it only holds 21 gallons of fuel !! I tested the design limits of a large rubbermaid storage container, i don't really think they are rated for gasoline.

Rerouting the fuel line was less of a pain in the ass than i was anticipating and i took the opportunity to thoroughly clean the inside of the tunnel since the line emptied itself of fuel in the tunnel as i removed it.

Replaced the clutch pedal pivot shaft, here is the original one about to break.

Rebuilt the parking brake assm. plus new red heater knobs, the others were sun bleached pink.

            Made a clutch stop.

            Pedal cluster before.

Assembled the powder coated pedal cluster with bronze bushes, turned out really nice. you can see my clutch pedal stop in the bend of the clutch pedal.

At this point i just wanted to see the engine in the chassis so in it went.

New CV joint bolts drilled for safety wire.

Mounted the MSD box (it was held on by one wood screw when i got it) got it wired up.

Please ignore all the non tidy wiring and hose routing in general All will be fixed later.

Installed the factory short shifter with Titanium bolts left over from another build.

Put 14 quarts of oil in it and started that bisch up!

911 is dry sump and oil changes are around 11 quarts. Initial fill with bone dry engine, oil cooler lines and oil cooler is 14. The oil tank holds about 9 quarts so you have to fill in stages, add 8 then start the motor and add the rest. Oil level is set/checked with the engine idling at full operating temp, 14 quarts expand quite a bit when hot!

                                Great progress!!

Snap a picture of how you secured the cv bolts. Did you loop a wire through all the bolts?
