Got a lightly used Conti belt from a friend and it works perfectly! He told me the current hencho en mexico porsche belts are too short even for the stock pulleys, at least until they break in which puts a lot of stress on the alternator and the not so beefy magnesium fan housing.Leave a comment:

Light weight starter @ 8.5 lbs vs original starter @ 15.5 lbs.

Trans on, starter on, quick and dirty wiring harness.

At this point the engine is complete except for installing the distributor, plug wires, plugs, and heater hoses.

I'm having a problem with the fan belt not fitting my fancy aluminum pulleys. I thought i was doing the right thing buying a genuine porsche belt but apparently not. Hencho en Mexico FML.
Gonna order a conti belt and hope that works.Last edited by LJ851; 03-12-2013, 02:11 PM.Leave a comment:

I have been doing some work.
Got most of the tin on the engine and finally took it off the stand.

Sitting on a furniture dolly with the complete exhaust system installed.

I have a second muffler that i really wanted to use first but it wouldn't mate to the headers properly. It will require removing a flange and re welding it.
I wanted to run the rear piece of tin from the 3.0 engine but it needed some repair and modifying.

I did the sheet metal work at a buddies shop who just picked up this monster. Google Yoder Power Hammer if you aren't familiar with it. Dude is majorly talented, like build an entire car body from scratch talented.

Here is the rear piece of tin installed.
