    318iS were two-door hardtop only.

M42 sedans (like yours) and verts (like mine) are 318i.

for whatever difference that makes... if someone tries to wave a trunk badge in your face and tell them it makes their car "better" than yours, feel free to remind them the sedan chassis has more torsional rigidity, and the vert has better weight distribution. they are variants. that's it.

Early 318s, '84-'85, were M10 powered, and only came in "318i" models and were both 2 and 4 doors and had diving board bumpers).

Also, you can change the title by hitting "edit" then "advanced".

A couple "drift car" tips. Pull as much weight out as possible, esp from the rear, weld the diff, and get super stiff swaybars and suspension. At that point you can probably even drift w/ the stock M42 motor.
Oh ok gotcha title is changed.

Thats the plan, thanks for the advcice :D

Hey guys so I know its been awhile but I have been buying lots of goodies that I will show you shortly ;)

In the meantime though..... today I took a look at a S50 w/transmission with 150k miles that a guy is parting out from his wrecked M3. The engine looked like it was in good shape he said it had a small oil leak and the clutch fan was bent from the accident but other than that its in very good running condition (just a bit of background the guy and his wife were clearly BMW enthusiasts, they had 2 M3's and when I showed up he was swapping out suspension components from the wrecked E36 into his other M3 and he seemed like a very knowledgeable and up front guy.)

                    He has for sale

                    S50 all accessories
                    Ecu and Wiring harness
                    Transmission
                    Driveshaft
(Doesnt come with a clutch or pressure plate, which isn't a huge deal because I'am going to upgrade it anyways but does play into value)

My questions are what transmission came in the 1995 m3? I know that's probably a stupid question but I have looked it up and haven't found a definitive answer. He claimed it was a ZF 265 but that doesn't seem to be right from the short research I have done since I got home. Is it the Getrag 250?
Also He is asking roughly $2,000 for all the parts listed above so is this a good deal?

I know I want an S50 but I don't know if this is the right one so please help!

                    Thanks in advance,
                    Trevor

                      The transmission that came in the 1995 m3 is a ZF310, 1996-1999 m3s came with zf320s.

That price doesn't seem that high, however if the car is wrecked it might be a sign that the owner beat on his car regularly, and it went wrong this time. Check over the maintenance records, try and base your decision on whether to buy the engine or not on NOTHING that the owner says. People will always tell you what ever you want to hear in order to make a sale.

However I do not believe 2000 is that high of a price for a good running, complete s50. Also something to think about, you will put another 2000ish into the engine and misc parts before you get this swap complete and running. I just completed my s50 swap, and let me tell you, you will not be disappointed.
