Well some more updates on the car. Got the transmission swapped out with the junkyard unit. Everything is nice and tight and the junk yard unit works in all the gears and actually has reverse and a working reverse light switch. I found reverse in the other transmission in on the drain plug. Should be finishing it up tomorrow as I need to get some new manifold nuts for the bottom side of the exhaust manifold. I also need to grab a new muffler hanger as mine is broken. Should be driving it tomorrow around the neighborhood to see it drive for the first time in a few years. Also when I was under the car I found this nice sticker.

Looks like the driveshaft has already been serviced. Also the old transmission mount had brand new oem BMW bushings in it which are now under the neused transmission. Keep loving these surprises on this car.

So today I bled the coolant system. Slapped the tires on the car and went for a drive. Still need to get a factory muffler hanger. Car drove pretty good. Really need to do a valve adjustment. But other than that no leaks and the neused transmission drove good. Just happy it actually drove 4 miles today. Now to add some gas to get rid of the hesitation. Only put in 2 gallons of 93 I had laying around. Tank is pretty empty. Slap the hood back on it and the muffler and it should be ready for tags and insurance.

        Pic after the drive.

Great build! I love seeing the progress you're making. I can't wait to get mine back on the road. Hopefully yours will be running buttery smooth after the valve adjustment & more new gas. Keep it up.

Well More work done on the BMW. Had to move the car to my Parents house as I moved. So while taking a break from college exams. I pulled the front vent covers are they were so sun faded. I also gave the car a bath. Found out the car has been in an accident once in its life and repainted. The top layer is so dirty that it is coming off and showing the underside paint.

            Before and After on covers.

            Also before the wash,

After, Looks like its been painted before and now the second layer is coming off.

More fun from a buddy. Startup when we slapped the neused transmission in to make sure it worked in all the gears.

Well Monday the car is getting insurance and tags. My firebird is broken again. 4.5 years and counting. So time to make a change. So tomorrow is find a exhaust clamp in the pick and pull, a rocker adjustment, some fresh gas. Then monday change the registration and change two tires out for ones with tread.

Playing around while waiting for some new muffler straps. Likes the sound so maybe a muffler delete is in order.

Well more sweet score and a new pick and pull. They had an 87 325is that had been smacked in the front. So I was able to get the brackets I needed to slap the exhaust back on. I also scored a these.

A set of hella fogs for an 87 325is valance. The rest was in pieces but the fogs glass and brackets are in great shape.

Well found more work needed on the bmw. First off the water pump gasket failed. So tore it down and fixed that. Now I have found that the clutch fan is now working. Was when I took it off but seems to not work anymore when it gets hot. Along with that the plastic on the radiator after 26 years has gave out. Still got to drive it but it needs some work. On top of that the external fuel pump is really loud. So thinking that the transfer pump is done. So looks like it needs a few hundred dollars of work. Last but not least the turn signal/high beam switch is pretty much stuck on high. So time to raid a few more junk yards.

Well its been a while since I have posted. Anyways almost got the car ready to go. Anyways picked up something.

TWINS!!! To bad the one side looks like this.

So tearing the parts car down. Selling most off. But keeping the few things my car needs. It has all the working fuel system including a pretty rust free gas tank and working fuel gauge sender. Also some little electronic bits. So hopefully I can raid all the good stuff. Amazingly enough I drove the parts car home and it still drove straight. So the fun or selling everything I dont need and keeping what I do for free. Anybody need 87 325is parts.

Hey, thanks again for the valance off the parts car.

I'm going to a local water jet place to have some new brackets cut out of aluminum. Hopefully they hold up better than the stock plastic ones. :)

Well finally got the car in the air and the gas tank swapped. Bad new the fuel level unit is shot so looks like I get to hunt for one of those. But at least I have a working transfer pump. Just bolt the exhaust up to the car this weekend and take it for a drive. Bad news is I have 3 batteries at the house and all 3 are bad. On top of that the battery tray is complelty rusted out. I will grab a picture but I can see inside the car. I figure if I look at it wrong it may fall out. Good news I have a section I cut from the parts car so it can be fixed.

                                Side note goodbye rusty tank
