Read this:
Pure coolant has a significantly higher boiling point, but is roughly 20% less efficient at moving heat than a 50/50 mixture. Also, keep in mind that those boiling point numbers are for fluids under normal atmospheric pressure... I'm guessing you're using a 15-16psi rad cap, so figure for an additional 20C or so towards the boiling point.
However... I don't think you're going to have many problems with cooling. I'm sure your M60 is more efficient than my murica engine and after putting a z3 rad in I haven't had any cooling issues. Your radiator isn't quite as thick, but should do the job quite well considering you've got dual fans (at least I think you anyway)

Antifreeze has a much higher boiling point than water, which keeps it cooler. Had a few messages with Travis as JGood suggested and says 100% antifreeze is a good start to help cooling. Relocating Radiator/Fan to boot could be better with some air pods or something, but I'll see how it goes before I do something like that.I was under the impression that pure water cools better than pure anti freeze. I know for a fact the specific heat of ethylene glycol is less than water, but I don't know if it's as simple as all that. Regardless I'd do some research on that...also for a race car running pure water is so nice cuz if you spring a leak no big deal and if you have to work on the car just dump it on the ground.Leave a comment:

I hear the M60B40 engine runs very hot especially when drifting with constant high revs. Also going to be removing thermostat and using 100% Anti Freeze to help keep temperatures down. Lots of people here run them without bonnets while on track.Leave a comment:

Thats great, found him on Facebook aswell, will give him a message, thanks.Congrats on the first drive! It's a great feeling!
Here's his YouTube channel. If you have Facebook you can look him up there as well, I don't think he frequents any forums.

Its coming on well, just need to do the hardest part of the build which is Manifolds to quieten it down a bit.Leave a comment:

No mate, have you got a link to who he is?
**** Update 5th November 2013 ****
Custom Propshaft fitted, so the car drives. First drive goes to my mate/sponsor Andrew Baker at A.B. Motors.
Wiring cleaned up a bit. Drivers Bucket Seat and Steering Wheel Fitted.

Have you talked to Travis with the m60 e30 drift truck? He might be able to offer some cooling advice.Leave a comment:

Gauge Pod was off ebay, similar to this - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151148917346Gotcha - so is that just a temporary or a permanent thing? I can understand initially to make sure everything's good... but permanently? Seems a bit paranoid bro.
Also, where'd you get your 3-pod bezel? I got one off of ebay and it doesn't sit anywhere near as flat as yours does (mine is in the same position, but angled slightly more towards the drivers' seat)

Its just to make sure the cooling system is working well, should be quite a difference between the 2 temperatures. Oil pressure and wideband will be on my too do list. Need to find out the best way to lengthen the oil hoses going to oil filter, so I can add an oil cooler then put in oil pressure gauge.Leave a comment:

**** update 31 October 2013 ****
Quite slow progress this week, but its taking shape and soon be able to be driven.
Working fuel gauge, 2 temperature gauges (1 on hose going to radiator, and 1 coming out of radiator).

Started on the rear of the car

Rear axle removed, parts scattered around the garage.

Rear Beam and diff Poly bushed, e36 compact trailing arms fitted for 5 stud conversion, BC Coilovers rear Shocks/Springs fitted.

I now have the measurements for the custom propshaft, need to pop down to local engineers to have 540 propshaft flange welded onto the e30 propshaft and slightly shorten it. Soon as that is done and fitted, the car will be driveable, altho very loud as haven't done manifolds/exhaust yet.Leave a comment:
