315 e21 Opalgrün Metallic ! 75Hp of Craziness !

Hello from France !

I already own 2 bmw e30, I'm here to show you my newly acquired 315 e21 ! It has been sitting on a backyard for almost 7 years, Fortunately it has only few rust spot, and all of them will be fixed very soon ! ( Zero rust under the car, floors etc. )

It is from 1983, totally stock, 150 000km, second Hand ! I started the engine without difficulties, of course, I made the classic service before, including oil change, and all the filters replacement, spark and spark plugs ! The engine runs great, have a cool sound for a small engine ( I'm used to the M20b25 engine of my e30s ), Some carbs tuning to do, and maybe a complete set of gasket !

Negative points :

Some rust spots on the exteriors ( below tail light, the rear window driver side, and around wheel arches )
Front spoiler in bad condition
The rear valance is bent because the tires exploded while we were driving the car back home, and the anti-thief bolt was totally ruined, so I unfortunately couldn't took of the wheel and had to drive few kilometers like that, If I would have left the car, It would have been robbed or destroyed for sure !

Positive point :

-I do have equipment I acquired during the restoration of my E30, including air compressor, orbital sander, a collection of spray gun, sandblaster, Mig welder, Arc welder etc..
Which means that every negative point will soon be repaired !
-The engine is great and clean !
- Body of the car is in great condition !
- The color is absolutely Beautiful !
- Almost Ready to take the road !


Project :
- Front BBS spoiler ( got a deal for 70£ including shipping )
- 4x BBS Mahle 6x14 ( I will get them soon )
- Homemade coilover ( Golf mk2 will be adapted )
- Paint touch up, And a full paint Polishing !
- Single Headlight conversion

That's it ! I keep it simple because it's a daily driver, and I want it to be comfortable and good looking,

And it's just a 315, IMO it looks better with only few equipements than with a full body kit, spoiler etc.. It's not a race car !

And here is a small video, I think the little M10 sounds pretty good, of course the exhaust is in bad condition, it is meant to be quieter



Also it needs a complet set of gasket and a good clean of the carb, Had a hard time trying to drive it !

I like it! It's different. As you can imagine, we don't exactly see 315's in the US that often. As an M10 owner myself, I can agree with the underpowered part. Sub'd to see where you go with this.

The single headlight set Has been ordered, I'm also waiting for the BBS front spoiler to arrive!

I will also show you both of my e30 later, My 325i Coupe has been stripped down to bare metal for a complete restoration, Full hartge body kit, Suede interior, Startec tail light, M30b28 Hartge etc.. You should love it !

e30m3s54turbo I have seen your thread, Looks like you do love Hartge parts also ! I Will show both of my e30 soon, My sedan has a complete hartge body kit only, And my Coupe ( alpinweiss) also has Hartge body kit but not the same, And also hartge shock absorber,m30 Engine with the Hartge valve cover, Hartge wood knob, hartge muffler etc.. :D But this one is still in restoration !

About the Yellow headlamps, It's becoming rare in France, but you can still find them for e30, e21's one are hard to find !

NEWS !

Here I received my super cool Single headlight grille !



I've also bought a foam spoiler ( Foha style ), It was a steal, I couldn't resist, even if it goes against the style of my main project ! I don't know if it will be on the car yet, Wait and see !

Problem solved ! 4 Spark plug dead, all at the same time ! and they were new, Maybe that was the curse !

I'm still waiting for that BBS front spoiler ... I will received two Headlight this week end if everything goes right .

And here is the improvment, A cold Start on a cold morning in my Cold city !

Seriously, I don't know about America, but here, they are quite aggresive persons, and severly involved in car/house robbery, it's not a cliché, even the police doesn't want to go in their campsite most of the time. But I don't think the term gipsy is the good one, we do also have travellers who doesn't annoy anybody !

Good to hear the car runs now - I don't know what kind of temps you all have been seeing in your part of France, but that's a pretty decent cold start with the temps we've had. According to Google it's been -4 to 1C here.
