I used the Leak Down tester from HF.

It worked well and it's on sale right now:

Hopefully the last "hey look I got parts" post for a while. With the arrival of these last seals I can move forward with the install if the top.

Now I just have to get the transmission/selector rod setup assembled so that I can drive to the shop. While I am not opposed to DIY projects, I just lack the time and patience to do the top install.

Nearing top replacement time. The seals shipped and should be here this week.

Also received a few oddball parts that I needed- the last of the "waist" trim (rear fender sections), a leather e-brake handle, and a new rear roundel:

Also (DRUMROLL) out of nowhere (well, technically Facebook) I saw a semi-local was pulling an M20B27 SuperEta from a chump car build. He was initially offering it for what he called next to nothing (which became $200, then $125) but he had issues removing the motor. I offered to help out and he gave me the motor in exchange.

I had a spare B25 that I was going to use for spare parts (mostly sensors and stuff) for the rallycar but with the rallycar gone I had put up for local sale. Since I picked up this motor I will be doing another (http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show...=155221&page=6) 2.7i build with the B25 and this motor. This is one time that an item not selling is a good thing.

This car seems to have a really bad oil lean and if I was going to refresh the timing belt and seals, I was going to do it right and rebuild the head on my spare motor to expedite the process. Now having found a bottom end as well (and a more advantageous one at that) this could end up being a better outcome that I had initially envisioned.

    Need to do this:

Thank you for the tip. Hopefully I don't need parts but it is good to know where to turn if the need arises.

I know how you feel about them. I really like them and always have. Sure, 17" is an overkill on an e30 but I really like them and despite loving the TRM C1s, I don't like them on this car as much as I thought that I would. I will bolt them up and make a decision once I have the rest of the car sorted out. "Correct" 17" wheels for the e30 don't come up often and the proximity, condition, and price all worked out on this set so I impulse-bought them.

    So a couple new things.

Local guy was selling some rare NLA BMW Motorsports replica wheels. They came with brand new A/S Toyo Extensa HP Tires 215-45R17 and are 17x7.5" with an ET of 18 or 20 (need to check). I surely did not need them but I really liked them so I pulled the trigger.

Alos bought a Z3 antenna for the convertible. I got tired of the fencing foil antenna hitting the garage door when the car was up on the lift, plus it just looked stupid. I have had trouble in the past with the power antenna so the Z3 option seemed like a better route. This came with the grommet, bracket, and a couple optional-length antennas.

Also, the MTC transmission joint arrived so I can finally get to work on finishing the DSSR install/shifter refresh project.

    Look at what arrived!

Also got a pair of these from Luke. Not my first choice in subwoofers but they work with the enclosure and the price was right.

Inner (rubber) shift boot, plus a nutsack...I mean a sack of nuts.

Lastly, I picked up the nut removers that were missing from my set, plus a set of screw removers. Both were half price.
