Being in the south, its mandatory. I ran two summers without it, and I'm not doing that again. -
Nice!
Interested to see how the sub box turns out. I'm hoping to make one soon too. I'm planning on doing that with a Rockford Fosgate DVC 8" and that same amp.Leave a comment:

Time for the details - finally.
I intended to have the car finished by the beginning of August. While I could drive the car under its own power on July 31, it had no exhaust and leaked coolant. After fixing the leak and installing an exhaust, it re-entered DD duty.
However, as with any major project, it had its problems. I had to remove the in-tank fuel pump three times (Walboro 255) due to problems with the rubber flex line which connects the pump to the steel hard line. Also, I learned to hate my loud exhaust and am now running a temporary setup to quiet it down.
Currently, it is out of commission due to my non-leaking e36 rack deciding to leak. I have a 40k mile e46 ZHP rack waiting to be installed next week.
Lastly, I'm overhauling the audio system again. While the OEM system was nice, it now shows the fact that it is made of used items. The new components will be
Kenwood Exceleon KDC-X998
Planet Audio AC1800.5
Lukebox (Well, my attempt at building one)\
Ok, now I'm up to date.Leave a comment:

Photo dump time!

Painted m50 (started swapping the pan today, not shown)

Current condition of the bay

e32 V8 Booster

I decided to add cruise while the dash was out for a hvac box swap.

I'm happy to see the extra stalk present. It should make long trips easier.
Onto the replacement heater box

Prefered electrical tools of this job

e36 rack

spacers(yes, the photo sucks)

Since I want A/C, and decided to go r134 simply because I already have the equipment (I have 609 certification and could do r12, but then I would have to get different gauges and hoses). So, my parallel flow condenser

Upgraded junkyard fan

Compared to the original

New Dryer

Evap core has been flushed of mineral oil, along with all of the black O-rings being replaced with green HNBR Rings.
Another item that I added last year was manual windows. I enjoy features such as A/C, but don't feel that power windows are worth the extra equipment. Besides, both motors went out within 3 days of each other.
I finally lowered it as well.

Lastly, the completed swap adapter (well, almost. I'll wrap it up once I verify that it works)

That's it for now.Leave a comment:

I fixed the e36. Then, I did with it what e36's were intended to do - donate their drivetrain to an e30.

Buying this was well worth it. Degreasing this and the bay were much easier tasks.

My clean m50, brought to you by Super Clean - the prefered degreaser of KI4UJO

The bay, after being sealed with KBS RustSeal. I'll be spraying it in Delphin Metallic tomorrow (whole car is going back delphin eventually)

At least the e36 enjoyed its last drive

Nov. 1991 to July 2014 - May it rest in pieces (it doesn't have much an option)

Other parts which are going into the e30
e36 rack (m50 had an oil leak)

The other e21 recaro

Various other stuff

Bay gets sprayed tomorrow, m50 getting dropped in next week.Leave a comment:

The M10 is out.

Fortunately, I have a good e36 rack to replace this

With no motor, my e30 now reminds me of an altered wheelbase drag car.

Lastly, the boat anchor. It served me well. For my dad, it served as a powerplant for his DD'ing uses form 1994-2000. I put it back into service in 2010. I'm not sure what it's future holds. Whatever it is, it will require a trip to the machine shop.

Finally, I have actual progress to report. First off, the CPS + DME got it running, but not good. Since the stomp test actually works now, I performed it and got a 1215 (MAF). Popped the intake off to find a mess of dryrotten vac lines, along with one of the ICV hoses completely severed. That would explain basically all of the problems. So, while waiting for the hoses, I started preparing to remove the M10

During the removal process

Currently, it is ready to be removed. If it hadn't rained (which preventing me from rolling the donor car outside, as the M50B25 is currently sans intake) I would already have it out. So, tomorrow's goal is to remove the motor, clean the bay, and begin prepping the e30 to accept its new 24v powerplant.Leave a comment:

Power Tour didn't go so well. Me and my dad started this morning with this :

I'm the guy in the reds shirt.
This happened on I-85, 30 miles from the final destination of zMax dragway:

We got clipped while trying to merge (by a driver that just drove away, I might add) and spun backwards into the cincrete embankment at around 60 (MPH for you EU guys). It it totaled. It now has a warped frame, doors that are unable to open, and a completely demolished rear clip. Anyway, we walked away shaken but uninjured. Needless to say, the lord was watching out for us today.
For reference, this was last month:

This was left by the rear end:

Ill get better photos tomorrow or monday. I'm just glad we're not dead. We almost got T-Boned by a Tahoe.Leave a comment:

I'm not sure yet, but the stock early 318i 3.64:1 will have to go. On another note, I bought these today at the PnP yard

Yes, they're racelands. However, for what I paid for them, I can't really go wrong. I'll mount them this week and give an honest review, as I will be coming from recently refreshed stock suspension.Leave a comment:
