Well, im new to this forum and new to the e30 platform, but have owned bimmers from my 2nd car onwards, (first car was a 77 300d Benz' dont judge me). Ive owned a set of mini coopers, 1 r53 supercharged and the other r56 turbo. Most recently ive owned a 95 e36 m3. But hard times fell and i own none now. I work for a used car dealer and at an auction just before this last xmas the perfect budget beater project fell into my lap. It was wrecked in the front and nobody wanted it but me. So 100 bucks and my boss got it for me for xmas. Best frickin xmas ever. After it was towed home i discovered the oil pan was busted. Fearing the worst i bought what i thought was a m20b27 for 150bucks. Turns out it was a 2.5 with eta intake and throttle body. Dont ask me why somebody would choke the 2.5 like that.
after i discovered this i robbed it of its oilpan and put it on the motor in my vert. A fuel pump, and a couple vacuum lines later and it started. And thank god it didnt knock. not bad for a car thats been sitting since 07. So now over the last few months ive been stockpiling parts to fix the damage and restore the car. Luckily it was a Tennessee car and theres no rust. And ive decided that my spare motor would make a great 2.8l turbo build. So ive already got the m52 crank in the block to test fit. Just need 130mm rods. And a ring and bearing set to assemble bottom end. As for the car all thats left body wise is a front bumper and hood. Plus new top and paint.... My main objective was to get it to run and look halfway presentable. Now that thats accomplished heres where my build thread begins. Pics coming soon!
