And that gets me mostly up to date.

I started slowly collecting parts to make my car make sweet boosty noises. Most of which came from Wardi on here. He bought KAMotors bolt on turbo kit, and got a little frisky in the Seattle rain and let just say it didn't end well. The worst part was it was like 2 weeks before the Picnic. :hitler:

But his car will live on in mine

This is actually KAMotors original turbo manifold he build when designing the first kit.
    [IMG][/IMG]

And then picked up an electric fan, intercooler, turbo, FPR, and TIAL waste gate.
    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

    [IMG][/IMG]

And I grabbed an extra oil pan to get tapped before hand to minimise down time of my car. (And it was only $20 ;D So how could I not)

They are MTS 15x8's. Thats all I really know about them. But decently light and cheap.

    Road trip!

So I started training for a new job in august, and before I started working full time I decided to take a 2 week road trip around the west coast. And my boss didn't care when I said "Dad I'm going to take a road trip first". So I went.

Here is a map of where I went. To ORP first, down to Santa Rosa/San Fran, Then Thunder Hill, Over to Lake Tahoe, then across to Eureka and up the Oregon and Washington coast
    [IMG][/IMG]

Its just me and Olaf, so I loaded the car and dog up and took off.
    [IMG][/IMG]

First stop was ORP for another 2 lapping days. Here is my set up when I hit the track ;D
    [IMG][/IMG]

And to save money I slept in the car almost every night. I put a futon pad in the back and it was great for the 2 of us :)
Here's my sleeping arrangements. Also, did have to worry about anyone breaking into the cars. I would notice. And had a guard dog with me
    [IMG][/IMG]

Stopped at Crater Lake. Had a beautiful day walking around. And drove around the whole rim. Picture of Olaf on one of our walks.

    [IMG][/IMG]

Yup, drove around the whole thing towing the E30 :)
    [IMG][/IMG]

Ran into 3 guys at one of the lookouts driving an Aventador, R8 V10, and a Mclarin. Turns out they were all owned by the guy taking the picture and he invited his brother and brother in law on a road trip. They were from San Diego and going through Death Valley, Crater Lake, etc. Taking turn driving each car. (lets just say, I asked if he had any more sisters ;D... He did not :( )
    [IMG][/IMG]

Then I dropped the E30 off at Thunder hill. They let me park it in the trailer area for 10 days for only $50. Which meant I didn't have to tow it into San Fran and around Lake Tahoe. So here she waits until I get return
    [IMG][/IMG]

Then I visited a friend in Santa Rosa, saw my brother in San Francisco and then came back for a lapping day at Thunder Hill. It was awesome. I got to drive the full 5 mile track. Which is a lot of track to learn in 1 day, but it was raining in the morning so it slowed everything down and helped give me time to try and learn. Unfortunately I didn't get many pictures and my Go Pro was dead, but it was great. I need to go back.
    [IMG][/IMG]

And this was there doing shakedown laps. Full race R8. (even had the compressed air jacks on all 4 corners. F1 status! Lets just say, I was running circles around him in the E30
    [IMG][/IMG]

After that I headed over to Lake Tahoe. They let me park the E30 at Thunder Hill again, so I wasn't forced to tow it. Which made it so much easier.

Here is Olaf taking in the views at one of the parks.
    [IMG][/IMG]

And that really the end of car content. Did 2 days at Tahoe and up through Lassen Park, then over to pick up the E30 at Thunder hill, and continue on the Eureka and back up the coast. (Which I took 4 days doing) Any way, I was an awesome trip. Saw some great roads. Some I will have to come back with just the E30 and tear up!

Then I just drove the crap out of the car. I did 2 track events at The Ridge, 1 at Oregon Raceway park, and 1 day at Portland international Raceway. Then I loaded it up and went on a 2 week road trip to hit ORP again and Thunder hill. (as well as a lot of sights)

    At the ridge.
(E36 M3 next to me has a DINAN supercharger and meth on it. Fun car)
    [IMG][/IMG]

This is the car packed up for the road trip, but shows how I tow it behind the Yukon. (plus cute puppy points)
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Oregon Raceway Park
(fantastic track! Middle of nowhere, but if you have the chance, GO. I also like that they run it in both directions)
    [IMG][/IMG]

Photographer out there caught this picture at ORP. He puts the negatives in a key chain to hold up to light to view. Pretty cool thing.

Then I picked up a bunch of stuff to go in it off CL. He was building a PRO3 car, but lost interested and parted it. So here is the stuff still needing to go in.

    SS clutch line
    [IMG][/IMG]

Brake ducting and custom dust covers for brake cooling.
    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

    DSSR
(I've been putting this one off because I have an early model and need the late model selector that goes into the tranny) And not sure how it connects, so I need to do some research.
    [IMG][/IMG]

And got some sweet wheels with Proxy RA-1s. He said the tires had 1 heat cycle on them and the wheels had never been mounted. ($700 )
    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

An oil pan scraper. Which he had 2 oil pan gaskets he threw in free. (1 for top and 1 for bottom of scraper)
    [IMG][/IMG]

And an entire engine gasket refresh kit. (With a Goetze HG fo free!)
    [IMG][/IMG]

And grabbed an intake cause he said it was free. So I figure I can paint it and throw it on later.
    [IMG][/IMG]

He had some old 6 Pt harnesses that had "Expired" so he sold me 2 sets for $20 each. Which they expired in Feb of 2016 and showed no wear. So perfect for me, since I'm not doing any sanctioned racing. (yet :) jk)
So I grabbed a harness bar to put in until I can get a cage in the car.
    [IMG][/IMG]

And last, I picked up a car dolly to tow the car to and from the track. The car has always been great, but its almost 30 years old and with 210K plus on the clock, anything could happen. And I don't want to have to pay to have it towed back.

Then I decided to do a big rear sub-frame refresh. When you rested the sub-frame on a jack it would squish almost an inch. (Bushings were shot)

So I picked up some condor bushings. sub-frame, trailing arm, and the diff spacers to help offset lowering that car.
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Then I dropped it
    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

The bushings were definitely stuck in.
    [IMG][/IMG]

So I had to use some fire!
(Pro tip from FredK. you don't have to burn them out. You just need to heat the metal on the sub-frame enough to start melting the rubber on the inside. Then they slide out)
    [IMG][/IMG]

But the large washer was stuck and wouldn't come off, so i have to saw off one side
    [IMG][/IMG]

Put on some SS lines from ECS
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Pulled off the trailing arms
    [IMG][/IMG]

And new bushings with the diff spacers in
    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

    And its all back together
    [IMG][/IMG]

Getting it back in can be a little tough by yourself. I just had to do a sweet balancing act on the jack, and then got it back in. (forgot pictures of that)

Well, I neglected it again. But time for some updates. I've done some things to the car, but mostly just enjoying it. Did 4 or 5 track days with Audi club, and this thing is a blast. It is way better for the track than the audi. But I'll do a quick photo dump to show what I've done.

    Painted the wheels
    [IMG][/IMG]

This is the only picture of them all black on the car
    [IMG][/IMG]

I gave them a little orange to go with the car. Really liked it at first, then wished I just stuck with all black. Oh well
    [IMG][/IMG]

Build a fold up work bench in my garage
    [IMG][/IMG]

Had to replace my Odometer gears. (E30 lyfe)
    [IMG][/IMG]

Picked up a shift boot and E-brake cover. Some sweet orange and black hounds tooth :)
    [IMG][/IMG]

    Here it is installed.
Also got a cup holder... banana for scale :)
    [IMG][/IMG]

Picked up some new wheels and Tires. Wheels are Miro I think? and the tires are Ventus RS3's 225x45x15
    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG]

And painted them black because red doesn't go with the car. Here's them installed.

Thought I'd load up some pictures of the car and other stuff I've acquired to hint where I'm going with it. :)

Went and did a little paddle boarding in the E30. I feel it screams 80's with the boards on top. Haha

Before the white board, I experimented with an orange stripe in the hood. Thoughts?
I thought it was too much for a car driven on streets.

    The picnic!!

So one of the big things that happened over the last year, was I went to my first E30 Picnic!! It's was a fantastic weekend. Made it to Griot's on Saturday to see Darin talk about his M30 turbo vert. And Eric talk about his beautiful blue E30. Then headed over to James's house (aka owner of R3v) for the pre party. I still can't believe he does this every year. Takey a lot of balls to open your house up to an entire forum of car guys to come party. But good thing most everyone is respectful and doesn't take advantage of him. Thanks again for hosting this. Great party!

So in preparation. Of the picnic, I decided I needed to do something different for the event. So I decided to take my extra hood and make it into a white board. :) So I picked up the paint at home depot and rolled it on.

Turned out reallyour well. Especially on a white car. So I let people start signing it at the pre-party. After that night:

And then the picnic. So awesome!! I'm sure you guys have seen all the pictures, but here is one for my thread:

Can wait for next year. Rediculous to see how there can be a couple hundred of the same car, yet all so different.

And here is how the hood turned out after the picnic. I was super happy with it. I might have to make it a regular thing because it's a great way to remember the picnic.

So I've neglected this thread for a long time. But now it's time to update. Some quick things I did:

Painted the rear valence orange to match the front lip :)

Not going to lie, I love the look this car has now. If you don't mind I'm going to see if I can put my own spin on some of your ideas on one of my e30's.

    Keep it going.
