So, this will probably be a rather boring and uneventful thread, at least for a while. However, I've always had dreams of building a car for stage rally, and can't seem to forget them. So I've decided to sell off some of my toys, and start working toward that dream.
I'm a ford guy at heart, and always will be. So my initial search was for either an SVO Mustang, or a XR4Ti to build. I was having a pretty tough time finding a decent candidate that wasn't either destroyed or well outside my price range. Then I stumbled across an 86 325E.
After some searching and reading all across this great fourm you guys have put together, I convinced myself it'd be an option worth at least exploring.
My current goal is to clean her up a little bit, as well as race her in the stock rallyx stuff out here. At least until the wifey approvals the Stage Rally Budget.
So $900 later I brought home this 325E project.
It's in need of a fair bit of cosmetic work. But mechanically she seems to check out alright. She's got good compression and didn't do to bad on a leak down test either.
The immediate plans are for a complete tune up as well as a new suspension. And hopefully finding a passenger door.
According to the PO its had the following done, fairly recently.
- New Steering Rack (Reman)
- New Tie Rod Ends
- New Battery
- New Water Pump
- New Muffler
- New Drive Belts (Alternator and P/S)
