    The Exxon Valdez

Hey guys, some of you might recognize me as that guy who posts too much on the Facebook group, well here I am on the actual forum posting my new daily driver.

I picked this car up from a local BMW enthusiast who was looking to cut down on the amount of vehicles he owned.

    Its a 1990 325is, 3 pedals.

The car came with a few mods too which was great

    E30 M3 springs
    E30 M3 sway bars
    E30 M3 steering rack
E30 M3 shadowline black trim on the windows
    Z3 1.9 shifter
    Husco Armrest / Cup holders
    Sparco strut brace
    Bilstein shocks

overall the car was in rough shape with maintenance required immediately

    Issues such as

Front brakes near metal on metal
    Oil pan leaking
    Power steering leaking
Fuel lines to FPR and rail.... leaking
Rear main seal on the transmission... you guessed it.... leaking

Infact the only thing that didn't leak is the coolant

    Anyways more issues

    Motor mount ripped
    Left control arm has play
    Differential makes a clanky noise
Sway bar bushings ripped and show
Bolt broken off for right control arm bushing
Spark plugs were the worst ones I've ever seen that still worked
Belts were worn out and brittle
Thermostat failed on the drive home

Theres probably more but I haven't found it yet

This is how it looked right after I registered it and put my tags on it

I have a special historic registration that allows me to display tags that are of the same year as the vehicle. The stipulation is that the vehicle has to be 25 years or older ( think of displaying a 1967 license plate on a 1967 corvette )

Sure enough about a week into having these tags I was stopped for it. The DMV sucks ass and didn't properly register them to my vehicle. I have a legal registration but the cops system said these tags belong to a plymouth. I joked with him and told him I didn't have time to get them renewed since I had to be born first and all ( born in 1993 )

I swapped the seats from my e30 m3 into here while its being restored since the car came with tan comfort seats ( the original tan leather sports seated are long since gone )

I'm also running a C43 head unit from a 1999 e36. It has RDS and PTY but still has a cassette player so I can listen to Phil Collins the way it was intended to be listened to. Yes I own a Phil Collins cassette lol.

The first day I owned the car the damn water pump belt broke and it had to be towed home. Needless to say it was depressing

Maintenance time. Thats a local buddies car in the back ground. Its a super clean 89 325is, 3 pedals.

New front rotors, pads, SS brake lines, Oil pan, Oil pan gasket, sway bar bushings and spark plugs. Also belts but those were done before it made it to the shop

The spark plug on the right was completely dead causing a dead miss on cylinder 5

Some how these were still working?

I took it down to my local cars and coffee sunday morning and parked by myself in the corner. When I came back I found these two beauties parked next to me.

Later that day I stole the ellipsoids from the e30 m3 ( since its getting brand new headlights anyways )

So thats where I'm at so far. This is replacing my e46 touring as my daily driver since it runs on 87 fuel and maintenance is cheaper on it. I'll update as more stuff breaks.

    Obligatory touring tax

    325xi 5 speed swapped to a 330xi 6 speed.
