I bought it from a forum member two years ago. Aftermarket alarm wiring had shorted and caught on fire, so I got it for a fire sale price (lol).. and it still drove! Very little rust and otherwise a clean car. Schwarz/cardinal. I started parting it out knowing I wanted to swap motors.
I bought an entire chassis harness from an 86 eta. I've got it all labelled and ready to go in, but still, that'll be fun to sort out!
I've been collecting parts for the past two years. Z3 steering rack, ix/vert swaybars, Ronal LS's, crack free dash, late model rear valance.. And now the M30 swap. Just bought the Garagistic mount arms and full reinforcement kit
I'm basically going period-correct OEM plus. Keeping the diving boards and cowcatcher valance. It's my second car and I've finally got a good job that affords me the spare cash to work on it. I hope to have it done by mid-July for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (this may be ambitious!)
Well I got the engine on the stand, gas tank out (drained all over me including into my ear.. was a lot more full than I expected!). Going to run a late 318is fuel pump, which is en route to me now.
Looks like I need to source a late 325i injector harness, unless I have one on my parts engine.
I have a healthy order from Blunt (seals, gaskets, e28 rad/hoses, mounts/etc) coming soon. Also received my Garagistic mount arms. Fuckers are beefy!
Right now the steps are:
test fit engine, hammer the shit out of firewall, repeat
touch up paint on engine bay
re-fit chassis harness
go from there
Send that rear subframe our way and we can get that sorted for you too. Adjustable camber/toe, reinforced diff mounting points and poly or delrin bushings.
