Got the blower installed after three days of snow... The resistor is out. It only works on setting 4. Looked new, but I guess you can't tell by looking.

Thanks. Yeah, it's a tough pill to swallow, but to me the interior is more important than the exterior. My last e30 was beat to death on the outside, but mint on the inside.

    Instrument Cluster Grounding Nuts

I had been missing my fuel gauge grounding nut since I bought the car. I looked through my hardware and came across the #8 Hex nut and split washer from a harbor freight kit. It fit so now I know how much fuel I have.

Got my interior put back together except the steering wheel, which is still waiting to be wrapped. Might get to it this week.

    Blower Motor Replacement

Finally getting around to replacing the blower motor. Parts on order. I took out the blower first to confirm part. I hooked it up to a 12v battery and it barely spun. The fans are difficult to spin by hand. It didn't work on any setting on the switch, and would blow fuse #20 anytime I tried setting four. If it works on setting four, then it might only be the resistor located directly below the blower. Resistor is new. Also, I was able to easily remove the retaining clip by hooking a coat hanger under the clip end and it came right off. The fan is damaged on the passenger side. The plastic housing behind the blower had been chewed through by the fan. When I mount the new one in I'll make sure to check that it isn't rubbing or won't move around. I'm not sure why the fan would've eaten through the plastic housing in the back with it strapped in.

    Blower part numbers
    64 11 1 370 930 - Aluminum inlet, 5" fan diameter (Fat and Stubby)
    64 11 1 466 015 - Plastic inlet, 4" fan diameter (Slim and long)

I had the aluminum heater core inlet, so I ordered "64 11 1 370 930 - Aluminum inlet, 5" fan diameter (Fat and Stubby)" from RMEuropean.

I used these 1991 318is specific instructions from m42club to move the wiring on the firewall out of my way.

    Fixed cluster board

When the reverse lights shorted fuse #21, it blew out a portion of the board on the instrument cluster. I soldered in a new wire to replace the burnt out portion, and then checked the surrounding connections with a continuity test to make sure nothing is connected that shouldn't be. Finished it off with some electrical tape to insure that it doesn't move.

Haven't had time to work on the e30 much this fall semester.

    Interior put together

Got most of the interior back in. Needs headliner and grounding nut for fuel. I have some leather for a steering wheel wrap and eboot. Duct taped driver's side bolster for now. It kept scratching me while getting in and out.

fixed the tach, too. That's not idle. I just gave it a little gas for the photo.

    OEM Carpet install

Installed the carpet today with my wife. I was able to pull the cut piece from the old carpet out from under the HVAC box. The carpet came with the HVAC area perforated so I went ahead and took it out. The rain coming in forces us to stop there.
