Yesterday I got rid of my 1987 VW Scirocco 16v project and got this 1985 325 ETA sedan. I had a 1987 325e coupe back in college until about 2009 when I moved on from the chassis onto e36's and then onto e60. My old e30 was a lapisblau over blue houndstooth that ran like a champ but unfortunately it was suffering from some serious cancer and wasn't worth saving (to me at least) so I moved onto a 318ti, then an M3, then an e60. I still have the M3 and e60, plus my RR and Wrangler. You could say I have a problem...
I've missed e30's since I moved on six years ago and vowed to pick one up when I could. I wasn't really looking to get back into an e30, I was actually looking at old air-cooled VW's, Porsche 914's and BMW 2002's. I had been trying to sell the Scirocco when a guy came to look and offered up his e30 in a trade. Seemed he wanted to dabble in the BMW world but wasn't feeling it, just the same way I thought a VW might be fun but hated it. In the end it all worked out as I think I made out on the better end of the trade, but I guess he probably feels the same so it is a win-win.
My plans for this are to neutralize the rust that is there, find a zinno hood and fender and clean the interior up. I'm also going to either facelife it with a plastic bumper swap (if I can get all of the parts) or early euro bumper swap. I'd love to find a clean houndstooth interior as I love that retro look but would also settle on a clean black or tan interior as well. A lot will depend on what I can get my hands on with the most ease. I don't really want to do a full-on project nor do I want to dump a shit-ton into this car, my M3 just underwent a pretty hefty refresh so I'd like to just have fun with this one on a budget.
It came on 17" knock-offs but I had something in mind for those...

A few shots of the e30 and M3 along with Rover.

I had these left over from my 87. The tires are old but still holding air.

I'm sure this car came from a member on here at some point. I do not know any history of this car so if anyone on here does know of this car's past life let me know. It came from Maryland before moving to Virginia so there is some rust but it seems to run well and feels strong and tight. I am excited to be back in an e30 after a six year hiatus.
