    Build Thread: BMW E30 325i M 4-door.

    - Hello everyone. I want to create a build thread for a few reasons.

    1. Display everything that I am planing to do in terms of parts, changes etc.
    2. Use the build thread as a diary.
    3. Debate with members at r3vlimited about things to do and not to do etc.

    - Now, first of all, I do not own the car yet - crazy, I know right ;) - but I have decided that after all these years (since 1995 or so) that I want a mint condition 325i M. There is something special about this model that I cannot get out of my head, or mind body and soul.

    - It is better to have this thread than non and it keeps me away from needing multiple documents locally etc. It is so much simpler this way.

    - So why a 4-door? Well, first of all, the market consist of 80% or so 2-doors, coupé and cabriolet, they are extremely usual versions these days. And I did after all fell in love with the sedan. There is nothing wrong with the coupé (M3) and I can live with that car, no problem. But if I get my way then it will be the sedan.

    - The other issue I am facing atm is that there is one part that is missing from the M-tech II package for the sedan to make it complete, and that is: 11 Covering door rear right 1 09/1987 51712239876, the rest is there. So, unless I can find a used package, I am considering going for the ABS plastic kit Pro Parts in Bulgaria is offering. That to is ABS and casted from the original. So should be good, but it is not original. And I cannot afford this until the spring. But the front and rear is no issue, BMW is still offering this.

    - Other than M-Tech II exterior, there will be ALPINE Klassik Style II 18" rims and the color will be Cosmos black. Like the one in the picture, but that is the coupé.

Here are a few img of the sedan, in blue and sporting the ALPINE Klassik 17" rims

    - There are and will be many mechanical aspects like engine, breaks, steering upgrades that I want to cover as well, besides the interior and so forth. But this is a good start.

Sounds cool, I would go 17s max though, anything over that requires serious modification to fenders.

      Hi HersheySquirts.
Can you elaborate on that ?

I see mix of comments regarding 18". Some say its not a problem while some talk about the issue of rubber against the fender, sport or OEM settings for the dampeners, it also deals with ET or stance, but I am not after a stance car nor a track car. I am after a nice daily driver that looks good which the M-Tech II does, it looks really good for its age, to a degree, it still looks modern or maybe I am getting old ... lol

I've always been taught 17s are the max size for an e30. I've never considered running 18s so I don't really know what the issues are other than its just to big lol. There will need to be some major fender rolling for 18s. Besides I think anything past 17s don't look that good.

Right. Its a matter of personal viewpoint and some technical aspects. I can live with that.

I found a supplier locally for the ALPINA Radzats 8J x 17 H2 (the one seen in the images) and it will cost me $1956 for 4 rims. Kinda heavy price, but, it is after all quality. I will continue to look around and see if I can get a better offer.

Thanks. Yeah, I certainly do not disagree with that, that is for sure. But we have become accustomed to rather large rims that cover the entire wheelhouse or so, but, this car is not from that and this era, its form the 80's and that kinda needs to be considered when choosing.

So after considerations, I will stick to the 17 inch and be done with it. One less "problem" to consider :)

                Note to self:

                BMW Fabric: http://westtrading.nl/overzicht.asp?...t=Car%20fabric

                Possibility for BMW-18268 ÜBERKARO

                -- EDIT --

I sent them an email asking when and if they get the fabric in stock and the answer was that they do not know if they will, ever. So unless some company is making a copy, this fabric might be out of the question. But I will continue searching for it. There are ofc other fabrics that will work equally well. A combo of black fabric, such as the Corso Anthracit found in the E46 or the black version found in the X3 together with Alcantara on the sides.
