    Project Blue - '75 2002 Restoration ' "Old Blue"

With the loss of my e30 I needed to get back into working on BMW's. I've been toying with the idea of restoring one of my two 1975 BMW 2002's rather than another e30. Since the yellow one is a rust bucket and this one just arrived today from Blunttech I know I'll have my work cut out for me.

Since this is my first build thread, I'll be updating this as work progresses. I would be remiss if I didn't say that I was a bit overwhelmed with the work that the blue car needs ... a little bit scared and a lot excited though.

    More to come soon.

I've stalked your build threads. You are known to me.

The pic was Gigantic, so I will upload that after I make it a little smaller. Holy balls I just about gave myself a stroke with how large that pic was ...

        Looks smooth as a Chesterfield.

Is there tint on the rear windshield? The trunk lid may be from an earlier 2002, unless you deleted rear emblem?

Looks good from here. What are your plans for this thing?

Oh, this thing has it's issues ... rust spots (all surface with the worst in the spare wheel well). Looks like it had a whale tail or some other spoiler on there. It's also badged as a Tii ... and it is certainly not. Looks like I will be hunting down the correct trunk lid if the yellow car's is too rusty. The entire interior is missing ... everything!

There is tint on all the glass ... it needs to come off. But again, I have all good glass in the yellow car too ... so I'm going to pick my poison when it comes to figuring out what to do.

The car has a strong M10 - this was a club race car I've been told. Gonna track down the guy who raced it in the '80's to find out what was done to it. Blunt drove it and if I could embed the video I would.

Ideally this car would be a semi-custom restore. I mean it is already repainted away from the stock Fjord blue (which I love) ... I'd love to put a new interior in it with the seats that Blunt threw in the deal when I bought it. I have a grey Esty carpet kit and the entire interior from the yellow car, so I could make it a comfortable and driveable car. Engine wise it has a 36/32 weber on it, but I'd love to do dual side drafts, etc ... With those 14" Steelies you refinished it would look tits. I do have 13" steelies that came with the blue car which I ordered Wurth refinishing kits for as well. Tons of possibilities.

I have a line on a 3.64 diff for the car as well as early model bumpers ... thinking a set of Oscar's as well.

I can PM you a link to the pictures and video I have of the car ... let me know if you'd be interested in giving me some feedback.

First of the restore parts arriving. Two Wurth wheel refinishing kits for the 13" steelies. Having never painted my wheels before, any tips from the R3V pros?

Blunt kindly included 4 steelies with old tires that hold air. Those seem like a perfect fit for what I want to do with the car.

Moving along slowly, but at least it's progress. Got the bill of sale in the mail yesterday so had to get that all taken care of. Even got tabs/plates just in case it gets done early. Wanted to thank Blunt for the cool gratis ... love the logo!

Old steelie tires off and wheels bagged ... new tires on order. Such a shame that there aren't a lot of tire choices. Parts are starting to show up Esty, IE, Blunttech ... Had to make some room in the garage so the yellow beater can be stripped.
