    Nars E34

My new E34. It is a 92 525i, manual, M50 non-vanos. Originally I was looking for a 535i E34, but they are not very easy to find in decent driving condition for under 4k. I opted for this 525i instead because it was owned by an older gentleman who babied it. It's straight, no dents, needs paint. Interior is great.

So far I have done the following...

    Maintenance:
    - Removed and resealed Oil Pan
    - Removed and resealed Valve Cover
    - Overhauled cooling system: New radiator, hoses, water pump (including electric pump), thermostat & air box thermostat
    - Replaced Front Control Arms
    - Replaced Cabin Air Filter
    - Replaced Brake Master Cylinder Reservoir Grommets
    - Replaced Driver Taillight assembly (was partially melted)
    - Resurfaced Brake Rotors
    - Replaced Belts

    Upgrades/Modifications:
    - E36 16x8" Wheels
    - BFG Sport Comp 2 Tires (225/50r16)
    - H&R Wheel Spacers & Extended Wheel Bolts
    - HAWK Street/Race Brake pads
    - Stainless brake lines
    - Racing Dynamics Adjustable Sway Bars
    - Bilsteins
    - Eibach Pro Kit springs
    - Dinan Chip

    Before:

    After:

I bought an M30B35 (Originally for my Dinan E28 Project) and I'm intending to convert this 525i to 535i spec. After disassembling the M30B35 engine I noticed it had an issue in the cylinder head.

I sent out the cylinder head to get rebuilt and upgraded with a three angle valve job, Heavy duty rocker arms, rocker locks, Crower valve springs, Crower retainers and a 284 Duration cam.

I will be looking to find info about what has to be done to be done to convert this 525i to a 535i? Other parts I plan to get in the short term is an aftermarket steering wheel, a shift kit, and a strut brace.

M30 into 525 needs engine, trans, shift linkage, trans crossmember/mount, driveshaft, diff (optional, but I would) from a 535i.

The X20 connector will be different. I repinned/swapped the M30 engine harness x20 connector so it was plug n play with no adapter bullshit. Just check the wiring for your car vs a 535i....mine was a 1994 525 so all the pin locations were different. Yours may be more similar....

The climate control signal for the AC may be different too. It was on my swap. The 535 controls signal to the compressor thru the ECU, the 525 (note, mine is a 1994) controls it thru the climate control....I MAY have that backwards....but the diagrams (http://wedophones.com/BMWManualsLead.htm) will tell you.

Otherwise it's a very straight forward swap. I'd do this over a V8 swap as keeping it I6 means you don't have to fiddle with moving the ABS and other shit.

        New Steering Wheel

I found a wheel for the E34 I like. It's a older MOMO (Production 12/90) so it matches the car in terms of age and patina. I think its neat to find aftermarket parts that are 'period-correct' for a car.
