Bought the wrong E30 maybe? Need help.

    Hello guys,
    I am a newbie here.

So recently I have purchased an E30 1986 325e model. I looked at the car, and bough it for a reasonable price.

The car does start but it has been sitting for the last 3-4 years.

I have a few questions in order to even start and bring the car back to running condition.

    1. The tail light mounting flange is broken due to rust. Any fixes or OEM parts available for this to fit the tail lights?

    2. I have to change all fluids, sparkplugs, etc.

Do you guys know what are the best kits available for service?
    Like cooling system kit, etc.

I am going to be doing all the work myself.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi, welcome to R3v.

Please take some pictures of the rust. Also, the car will need a timing belt a.s.a.p. Fuel system might also need tlc. Buy parts from bluntech

Welcome to the forum. Share pictures of the car with us, including the under carriage. Hearing that rust has ate away at the tail light flange is disconcerting.

I'd highly recommnend ordering everything you need for your car through Blunttech. Great service and reasonable prices.

As stated, you'll want to do the timing belt & water pump right off the bat. If it's been sitting for the past four years you'll likely need four new tires and having the fuel system serviced.

        Good luck with the project!

          Welcome!

Along with the suggestions from others, I would inspect your gas tank as well. You can peek inside by removing the rear seat and pulling the fuel pump.

It will be very obvious if the tank has begun to rust out internally. If it is, I would just replace.

also, if you send a picture of your GF, you will get answers a lot faster.
remember, every single thing that has ever been done to an e30 has been documented here.
            do your research.

Here are the pics everyone requested. In the pic where it shows the rear of the car, the tail light bolt mounting flange is the issue. You guys can probably zoom on it. I was thinking about giant washers and sandwiching the tail light temporarily so atleast I can make it street legal.

Right now, I am thinking about making custom flanges and welding them on later down the road. Since I cant find any replacement.

Also can anyone tell me what front valance I have. I am not sure if its the stock one.

I know that the side skirts are aftermarket but not sure on which one. If any one knows, please let me know.

front valance might be a bbs

tail light looks like it would fine with the top 2 bolt hole locations

the tail light is mounted near the 1/4 panel with a flange

Cut the tabs out of a car at the junkyard, then tack weld them onto your car. If the metal is too far gone to do that, you can get a repair panel from ebay.de.
