If you need to upgrade your rear end, just use the stock 325 rear end with an E36 diff cover and add another diff mount, or use and MZ3 rear trailing arm swap for 5-lug and bigger axles and use an E36 diff mount with the added diff support.

You guys would have no problem adapting a different diff if need be, your skills are there :)
That looks pretty sexy. I'm sure something of the sort will eventually be done.

Bob Heacox is from Gig Harbor, correct? Last I heard he was upgrading to LS7.
Yes, he is from Gig Harbor and I heard he was upgrading to an LS7 as well. Crazy stuff!!

We bought a welder at the beginning of the project and I practiced on scrap for awhile and that's it. I think that a lot of projects are possible if you are smart, learn quickly, and plan ahead well. It kind of bugs me when I see projects that people just shove off to a shop to do for them...

It's nice to see a skilled engineer like your dad using his knowledge for personal projects. What do you do for a living?

I'll be graduating with my Mech. Engineering degree in April and hope that I can one day pull off some professional shit like this.

Usually about 300hp at the treads, depends on the year though.

I'm hoping for a bit over 400hp at the treads for mine though :)

I have been busy running down the last (almost) parts we need; PS hoses and fittings (hydraulic supply shop has JIC 3/8 (like AN6) fittings for the PS hoses for about $3.00 ea)

Had to drop the radiator off to have the RH end cap swapped since the outlet was right in front of the A/C pulley; new cap for about $75.00

To those who thought that our engine mounts looked weak:

Here is the FEA loaded with 3G's vertically and horizontally and it only used 1/3 the ultimate strength (i.e. it could handle up to a 9G bump)
