    The only thing is, this tube will put a concentrated stress on the side of a piece of sheet metal. the plate will distribute this stress over more of the tower, reducing the pressure and greatly reducing the probability of collapsing the shock tower. The cars I worked on this summer had the plate on top of the mount as well as along the side, and it was 1/4" thick. Heavy, yes, but the whole point is strength and safety.

    I do agree with you, but what my and my friend where thinking is that strut tower will act like a plate itself. I may reinforce the otherside with a very large plate. But for right now im gonna leave it how it is.

    In the future i plan on running full rear coilovers and they will have sheet metal mounts taht go directly into the cage

    Are you adding any extra material to the rear shock towers to support the members that tie into them?
