I went for a drive this afternoon, close to 30 miles. I get rubbing in the back under compression on the highway and it drives me nuts. I dont really want to roll the fenders any more, I just dont want to butcher them up. I could stiffen up the rear shocks but then the ride gets really shitty. I think I'm going to put these up for sale or head overto Bf.c and see what the E36 guys have for trade... :(______________________

I'm not having any issues with the front any more, just the rear. I'm thinking of trying some throwing stars.Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..

i think you're going to have the same problem with throwing stars. the et20 wheels just stick out too far on the cars with the late arches. i had et20 16x7.5 basketweaves with 215/45s and just couldn't get them to work. had all the same problems in the rear that you did. frustrating as hell because they looked awesome.______________________

I think they look like they actually fit on the car. I think the donk look is not attractive on your car (which is beautiful).
I really like the E38 weaves, in fact I'm on the hunt for another pair. This set is less than perfect and really just a set of track wheels. I have posted the "Donk wheels" up for sale on bf.c and S14 so they may be gone before you know it. I was just trying to go with something different that didnt require spacers.Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..

I wonder if a machine shop could mill off 3-5mm from the inside of the wheel where it mounts to bring the et in from et20 to somthing like et23-25?
And then would you have any clearance issues on the inside of the rim and trailing arm then or maybe even the brake calipers of some wheels?
just a thought...

Hey Bob,
on your 9x 17" Style 5's,
they make the same wheel in 22mm Offset and 19mm offset,
do you think any of those other offsets would have fit better?
How much room did you have between the inside of the wheel and the trailing arm, do you remember?
Your car is done right, very nice job...and looks awesome...
another stupid question, what years are considered pre-facelift?

What About Bob?
Great Movie.
But seriously, I'm having a hard time critiquing your car. I don't like seeing someones car that i like so much. Great build!turk@gutenparts.com
