Couple of Projects I Just picked up.

Here are a couple of cars that I just picked up in the last couple of weeks.

Here is the 87 325is I got for my son. I am still working on it and hope to get it on the road soon. So for total investment of $900

Here is a 97 Z3 that I just bought today. Engine is knocking but for $2500 couldn't pass it up. I think it will make a nice Christmas gift for my Wife.

Enought to keep me busy for a while.

Thanks. I have to get the 87 running first. I keep getting the wrong fuel pump. Hopefully the new one will be in tomarrow and we will see what else needs to be done on it. I just couldnt beat the price on e30 for a starter car. I will have to find an engine for the Z3. It has the M44 engine in it and only has 130k on the car. The previous owner didnt love the car it wasnt taken care of at all but it will be fine with a little TLC.

Might as well throw a six cylinder in the z3, right?

I thought about doing that but the quickest and easiest is just to keep the m44. Besides I have found a good low mile block for free. I just need to get this one out and see what esle is wrong. May be a cheap fix. All I want is something for my wife to drive to keep the mile off of the e39.

              I'm thinking LS2.

Nice score on the Z3. Keep us posted on your progress.

to upgrade to the 6 in the z3 is almost effortless if your already pulling a motor.

But I have a free engine block and I can rebuild the head if need be so for the price of gaskets I can be on the road. Thats what I hope for. If this doesnt pan out then I may try to find a 6 cyl. I have a lot of parts for a 6 just not a complete engine yet. I have been saving the parts for the 90 is. We plan on using the z for a comutter errand car. The 4 cycl will be fine for that. We shall see. I did get the proper pump for the 87 is today so I will see if it will fire up this weekend. Fingers crossed.

rod knock, probably spun a bearing, if you can get that block with rod, and pistons, just rebuild from there, everything should be fine....my friend has been through 3 motors in his 300zx, spun a bearing due to oil starvation everytime

Well I got the fuel system up and running on the 87 tonight bypassed the relay to pressuize the system and it still wont start. Checked the fire and its good. Check the pulse to injectors: they are ok. Sprayed starting fluid fired right up so I pulled the injectors and will try another set tomarrow and see if it will crank. The compression is good on the engine. The bad thing is its a slushbox. I really dont want to change it over to a 5 speed now the idea is to be on the road as cheap as possile. I have another auto if this one isnt anygood. Once everything is runnig I will have to cobble some type of exhaust together since the one on this car has been cut off. We shall see tomarrow.

                          Update

Here is an update. I put another set of injectors in reached in, hit the key fired right up. No smoke at all. Checked the fluids and decided to see if it would drive. The slushbox wouldnt shift out of first. After I felt that it was running good enough I took it out on the street and drove it around it started shifting. It still doenst fell right but time will tell. I still need to put and exhaust on it since it only has down pipes one it now.

Here are some more pics of the car after little clean up. The seats are in pretty bad shape but overall its not bad.
