    The Z3 Lives!!!!!

After a lot of parts gatherings and finding out that I didn't have a good head at all, I made some call and found a complete engine in a 98 318ti that was wrecked. I know the history on this car and chased it to the current owner. (local salvage yard) After much negotiation, we agreed on $650 and I bought it all complete with all accessories and trans but I we had to pull it. Since the car was wrecked and the wiring was already cut, we just cut everything loose and pulled it out complete in about 45min. I got it home and put all my original accessories on it and put it in. After running for a while it smoothed out and runs perfect. I did a little background on the car and found out that the engine only has 49,869 miles on it. I think that was the deal of the century. I now have a 5 speed for sale and an M42 short block for sale. I will post some pics of the the car when I get the new back window in and the car cleaned up. So for I am in the car for a total of $3800 including tags.

The car is in decent shape. Few door dings. The worst part is that the passengers side mirror was broken and someone glued the mirror back on where it meets the base. The glue ran down the door and I couldn't find anything to soften the glue to remove. A bodyshop friend of mine came to look at it and he took the door with him to fix. I already fixed the mirror it just needed to be repainted. He is going to fix all the door dings and paint the mirrow and door all for the cost of the paint. (He owes me a favor). I should get the door back firday the new tires will be in tomarrow so we should be on the road this weekend. I already bought tags for it. Over all the car was pretty nice. The leather is perfect. It was owned by a woman that never changed the oil. It was one of the nastiest engines on the inside that I hade ever see. I think it will be worth more that twice what I have in it.

Here is the car the day I brought it home.

        A few pictures

Here are a few pictures. Sorry for some of the crappy pics, my camera sucks.

The engine out and the original block that was to be used.

        Engine out.

        Lack of oil.

New doner just as we got home.

Stripped and ready for the accessories.

        Pile of leftovers.

Man I really need a new camera.

Would you be interested in selling any of the serp belt parts? IE any engine pully; alternator, water pump, powersteering, and tensioner. And the crank pully

Nice score there for the $$.

And Jhomo, are we thinking of turning things up a notch on your M42?

I guess I could sell what I have. The alternator doesnt spin freely, and the tenssioner mount was broken of in the wreck. But I have every thing else. Let me know if you are still interested in the parts I have. I also have a good clean decent mile m42 block and a 5 speed with only 49k on it that I need to sell.

hmm the exhuast manifold on e36 cars is different than e30. I am planning a 2002 swap and I am thinking the e30 manifold is going to run into some things. Do you have an extra manifold? that you want to sell?
