lol... Right now all the electronics are 100% stock. Im using a BEGI FMU to help with the fuel needs. I have a megasquirt board that im still working on that ill use when im tired of 8 psi.

Plenty of people tune the 413 though. What motor do you have?

I am puting a m52 crank assy in a 2.5 block. I am looking for M3 cams for it. I have a ZF trans. I have everything except a vanos unit. The engine I have is missing one. I will be ordering the bearings, rings, gaskets, and head studs soon. I have been told that 400hp is possible with the 413 box. I just wanted some first hand info to know which way to go. I am not settled on a turbo as of yet. I have a friend that does diesel perfromace work and has a garage full of turbos, I just need to get over there to rummage through everything. I may just get every thing running then go turbo later. I am a machinest by trade so making all the components that I need will be no problem. I am considering building an aluminum intake for the turbo setup. I have too many projects right now to persue this adventure too far at this time. I haver been following your build since it is similar to what I had in mind. I was planning of modifiing the stock tubular exhaust even before you didi. I had looked at MS but I was told with a chip and the 413 box 400hp is reasonable. I just want drivabiltyl. I have had the mega HP cars that are unruly on the street and I just dont want that. I fugure 400hp would be just what the Dr. ordered for what I want the car to be. I plan on doing a complete 5 lug conversion and big brakes. Any way you car is hot with the all black look.

Right on dude. That sounds totally reasonable. The custom intake might not be worth your while at that hp level. If you friend has a holset hx35 or h1c or even hx40 with a smaller exhaust housing, you should do well with that.

The only thing i HATE about the modded stock tubi manifolds is that with a turbo of this size, its really, REALLY difficult to get the turbo low enough to clear the hood and far back enough to fit anything on the front of it. Theres also no place to mount the waste gate traditionally. I guess nothing is traditional in custom turbo systems though.

        :)

So i did some serious work today. I borrowed my dads friends Innovate LM-1 wideband controller and it works like a fucking charm! (AEM sucks!!!!!!!)

So with that i tuned the BEGI pretty close. I had a hard time bleeding the coolant system but i got that figured out and it doesnt over heat now :)

I got all the body work back on good enough to call it a road worthy car again.

I only have one problem as of now, I see 5 psi boost at about 3800-4000 rpm. After this, it seems to fall on its face. It gets lean. (its about 13.0 +/- .5 untill around 5600 rpm) then it spikes to 15 - 16 range and the CEL flashes.

So it seems to be running out of fuel at 5500 rpm. Would this cause it to fall on its face and not build more boost? Or do i have two problems, fuel and a boost leak before the turbo?

Thanks guys and pics tomoro for sure.

So... got the boost thing figured out. My spring must be 5psi. With my boost controller i can turn it up as much as i want.

So i did a little test with the fuel pump today. It only gets to about 85psi. Not exactly good enough for the 8psi i want to run or even enough for the 5 minimum i can run. i have to see what the fuel pressure is at 5psi. I got the BEGI set up for almost the lowest rate of gain and AFR is still pretty spot on and it doesnt get lean till about 5900rpm. So i think the BEGI is asking too much of the pump and causeing a dip in pressure, hence why it falls on its face.

Side note... I drove up to the Uconn car show today which is about an hour each way. The car performed flawlessly (up to 5krpm) and i really cant complain about much. It got me there fine and its exactly like it used to be under boost.

So it looks like im going to be buying a walbro 255 and a new fuel filter very soon :)

                  Thanks guys.

Kanga, Im using stock motronic ecu. BEGI FMU to compensate the fuel department. No HG or studs. Keepin it simple and around 8psi.

Due to my fueling issue, i ordered a walbro 255 today. I hope i get it for the weekend. Autozone has a fuel filter for $16.95 so thats cool. Maybe i can get it tuned decently and start beating on it :)

Even at 5psi and only up to about 5krpm it pulls harder than my dads e36 m3. Its still nothing spectacular. Coming out of corners hard and in boost is a great thing though. My 205 tires arent going to be enough with more boost. Hopefully 8 or 9 psi will be more exciting.

Dyno should be soon as i know a guy who knows a guy and he said hell let me do 3 pulls for free or close to it. :)

                  Then its time for MS...

How is your manifold working out? Good turbo response?

Seems alright. Never drive another custom turbo car haha!

Ill let you guys know when ive got the manifold sealing on the head a little better and the fuel to make 9psi. The turbine housing is also HUGE (21cm2) so that doesnt help. I saw about 8 psi by like 4krpm in 2nd gear n then had to shift at like 4900 :( cause the fuel cut.

Im really banking on the filter being fucked and then the walbro i just ordered making it trouble free for ever.

Thanks dude! So do i! Im kinda banking on it being the spark plugs and or fuel filter. I dont know why it would be the fuel pump. Im not making 450whp. Oh well the pumps coming friday so its all good.

Im planning on running a spare intake cam on the exhaust side too. So its a 244 244 cam set up rather than a 244 228 or w/e the stock exhaust is.

So, did the right plugs gapped to .024" and the fuel filter. It got better. It doesnt fall on its face and missfire like it used to but its still getting real lean up top. Hopefull the fuel pump will help.
