Looks like a fun project. Ill be interested to see the motor built.
What are you going to use for tuning? staying with the MM Jim C chip?

      Hunter
Oh ok. My RZ's are off a VW so maybe they are a little different. As for the chip, yeah I will go with the MM chip.

that is the plan. why the boo? i just don't want to run their cam. i want more mid range. and i can always adjust the cam gears to change the curve just a bit.

so todays update is that i got my cylinder head back. i also have some camshaft news that will be after the pics of the head.

since i feel a full PnP job is a waste on pump gas, i have taken it upon myself to do some house cleaning. it's not done quite yet, but here is the start of it...

                untouched

                stage 1

                stage 2

                stage 3

                stage 4

i need to do another round of polishing with a finer brush wheel.

as for the cams, a buddy of mine sent me to a guy who runs Dougherty Racing Camshafts in Shingle Springs, Ca. He is going to regrind my stock cams to what ever operable spec I want for $300. This means I can clone Schrick, Metric Mech, etc for way less. All they are doing if regrinding stock cams as well. Best part is I don't have to worry about seating new cams. This will mate up with the cam trays that I have now, since they came out of them.

                His website is http://www.drcamshafts.com

^^ the m47 deisel crank. I have been trying to source a decent price for one.

Nice! Not sure if your still going with the MM motor, you can have the same build for WAY less money. Hit up Terry Tinney Performance Motors (Livermore CA) for the build, he specializes in that area of engine building. Dinan's winning 2002 race car used his m10 builds.

are the tranny mounts (red) urethane?
                            if they are NOT urethane:
                            1. do they have a bmw part number?
                            2. can you describe their stiffness?
                            3. provide the thickness

                            thanks!

Julien - is that crank a direct drop in? or is modification required? and where the hell would i get one? and the benefits to this are what exactly?

xLibelle - they are red poly, i got them from either IE or UUC

I really hope this doesn't come out shitty

I obviously have to add the black paint, but I ran out of primer tonight.
