Project: "ZOMG that car is fast ??!!1tehONEONE" (56K welcome... HAHA! seriously GTFO)

Ok, so as you may have seen in members rides, I recently bought an '89 318i as can be seen below. Engine is fucked.

The idea was brakes, coil overs, then drop in an m20 and one day boost it.
Gut the thing and have a nice toy for club rallies and little track days before moving on to bigger things...

    Here is the chassis:

And Then I saw this :giggle:

    OK OK OK !

    THIS!!!

So I took it for a test drive and... WELL.
    ... [/MONEY]

    SO, in closing:

    Things I have:

2.5L M50 turbo (not completely paid for yet)
-Includes everything for an e30 except FMIC and boost gauge

    1989 318i.
    -No sunroof
    -Now power windows
    -No fog lights
    -No rust
    -2 doors
    -Plastic bumpers

    28x9x2.75 - 2.5 in and out:

Planning on copying turbo325i's set up: http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthr...rcooler&page=4
I'm also planning to paint the IC black, to match all the piping and help hide it from the fuzzy muff (PO-lees)

Got the spoiler for a good deal on eBay, should help with extra down force.

    Just kidding

    Things I need:

    Exhaust
-Looking at a used 3"in 3"out magnaflow on eBay atm.
-Then some custom piping i Guess.

    Battery
318i battery has shit a brick..

    Boost guage..
Looking for something clean and OEMish like VDO.

New clutch, M40 clutch just wont last.
I've been recommended an e46 330Ci clutch and fly wheel set up, and I can get the set up for about $1400 AU.
If anyone has a good recommendation for a clutch and flywheel (I'm not much of a purist they can be after market) SPEAK NOW.

Things I want / need in future:

    GC coil overs,

Something in 16x8 or wider. and maybe a simple flare set up.

Brake set up... not sure, don't really want to go BBK... (maybe just in front)

Racing dynamics Carbon fiber engine covers to replace the worn out ones on there now.

    Volvo 740 front lip.

    316i trunk badge.

    Some subtle stuff like
All red tails, smoked indicators, shadowline

...Lot's of other shit I'm sure

Let me know what you think!
And any help is ALWAYS appreciated!

    Cheers

        Fuck.
So I missed out on the exhaust I was hoping to win. Got out bid at no-shit, the last second...

SO, I'm all ears to ideas.

I'm thinking something along the lines of 3" pipe from the headers, no cat, and to a flange where I can interchange between,
3" pipe, mandrel bent, and exiting in front of the left rear wheel (for track),
and 3" (maybe even 2.5") pipe, to a rear exit muffler (for street)

Any sugestions for cheap, reasonable mufflers appreciated.

Im rocking a us52 clutch and flywheel. Aparently good for 350whp fairly reliably. Idk how hard it would be to get that set up in Aussie land though..

Looks like a cool project. Check out my build page if you need any ideas :)

Keep us posted. I honestly LOL'ed at the wing thing

Could put a full 3" exhaust on it all the way out the back with what ever muffler you want. Then have a cut out up front?

                  ^ Yes it was.
Poorly advertised at that, It didn't even show up under an "e30" or "e36" search.
But Yeh, when I finally went for a test drive, I recognized the car from an ECCA cruise some time ago, I assumed it was an m20 turbo but ohh no...

                  It is verry quick...

                    UPDATE:

So this week end, I'm towing the car down from the coast to a friends shop, where we'll be doing the work. Hoping to have the engine in and all hooked up in one day :o.

Bought the Intercooler on eBay, Paying via cash transfer 1st thing tomorrow, I need the payment to go through straight away, then I need to ring up and see if I can have it shipped interstate by the end of the week.

Also my clutch set up came in today!
It's an e46 330Ci Clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, and all that jazz.
$1,4?0.00 Thats a good price for new OEM parts around hear. Thoughts?

Now I mentioned I'm planning on having an interchangeable <straight through side exit / rear exit muffler>
I came across these on eBay:

I've also found a shop I ca do some exhaust work in, my mates grandpa is an oldschool bike builder and seems to know his stuff, so hopefully i can get them to help out with the exhaust.

I'm still on the search for a second had BORLA or magnaflow muffler.

Always love to hear feedback, any help appreciated.

                            Right on dude!

Turbo m50 e30's are cool! I think you should buy a real BEGI FMU (looks like thats how its tuned from the engine bay pictures) They get rid of the lean spot right at the onset of boost that most other FMU's are notorious for.

Keep it up and i cant wait to see pics!
