Dozzen?
No, never heard of that cool system?
And it begins...

I keep forgetting everyone is running MS
like it's going out of style
hmmmmm yeah
seriously though, I'd go with simply what pricee30 suggested, i manifolds and i exhaust and calling it a day. but if someone wants to convince him to spend as much on this as the forgone M50 swap, go ahead.
I didn't say anything about MS, but I forgot you were also a master of EMS and tuning. :p
MS is one of over a dozzen solutions you could use, and many of them are affordable. But you already knew that right? ;)
Stu, wasn't that a factory car? I've heard BMW tested the M50 in the E30 body before the E36 went into production. Apparently it got better fuel mileage and was faster than the E36, so they quashed that idea. ;)Last edited by nando; 05-20-2008, 06:13 AM.Leave a comment:

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
or save a lot and just go with this setup
food for thought:here the complete list
eta block
eta crank
eta pistons
eta head(ported on intake and exhaust side)
Dual I valve springs
Aftermarket I cam
I intake manifold, TB etc...
I exhaust manifolds
Full 325i motronic 1.3 setup
I only spend about $1200 on it but that included the wideband o2 sensor and some other stuff.
I'm going to throw a MAF on it soon once I get a 325i cat on it.
I'd like to do a dyno run on it sometime. There aren’t any shops here in town that I know of that have a dyno so I'd probably have to go down to Atlanta.

no, if you knew anything current you wouldn't be looking for a MAF conversion at all. ;)
seriously heeter - you're way out of your territory here. stick to business, drinking and slutty college chicks. :pLeave a comment:

the knowledge has changed a lot in 5 years with M50 swap... but is anything that fundamentally different?
I never heard anything negative from Ely about his budget build either... i something radically different that makes a cheap build much more different?
I mean, sure if you want to order magical pistons out of a catalog, figure out your ideal setup, and throw in a MAF - maybe you need newer infoLeave a comment:

Shit... 3 years ago junk yard turbos were the cutting edge of e30 technology.Leave a comment:

yeah, and I know you have lots of experience building M20s ;)
has the body of knowledge changed in the last 5 years? certainly. most of us 5 years ago were wondering what chips to use, not which combination of cranks, rods, pistons, valves, cams, etc. to use..Leave a comment:

yeah, 5 year old stroker info isn't what I'd be looking for either..OK this PDF is one of the most confusing things I have tried to read lately. It is a mishmash of M10, M20 and M30 info that is all unlabeled and to top it off there is some strange brake caliper stuff crammed into odd places. WTF?
As a person starting his own 2.7i build and shooting for around 9.5:1 compression I kept getting my hopes up thinking "Aha! X amount off the block and Y amount of the head and.....Shit! thats M30 stuff, Maybe this is....Damnit thats M10 with S14 crank stuff...." AARRGGHHH
I reread it a few times and i think that 30 to 40 thousandths off the block and twenty to thirty thousandths off the head will give 9.5 to 10:1 for a SETA short block with "i" head. Is that correct?Leave a comment:
