    Whitey Squared - 1991 325IC - My DD Project.

    -Whitey Squared 1991 325IC-

I got this car for $700, Out of a field in the country outside of Austin. The old guy I got it from explained to me what had happened to it. It sounded to me like a broken T-belt, Well he somehow threw a rod out of the block... In an auto. I had been looking for a new E30 since my first one "Whitey" got R3V off the road by a lifted truck in the rain.

    -The good-

-It's a cabbie and I really wanted one.
-It's Alpine White(II) like my last one(Which was actually Alpine White I) and I love it.
-Blue sport interior, Front and rear seats need to be recovered. Other than that it is perfect.
    -No diving boards anymore.
    -A/C worked, Should still work.
    -$700

    -The bad-
-Blown motor, But I have a Strong M20 in my wrecked IS.
-Auto Tragic AGAIN, But I have almost all the 5spd swap parts together for less than $350 so it will be getting fixed soon enough.
-Hail damage. Gonna do the dry ice method for the body, And replace the hood and trunklid with the ones from my IS(Euro style no 3rd brakelight if I can get away with it). I plan on eventually respraying it in Alpine White II again.
    -Top needs to be replaced.
-Front bumper and valance need to be replaced from a little fender bender.

I know have alot of work ahead of me, but I am really looking forward to seeing this car come back to life and then some. Also I have my whole 87' IS for a parts car. I have big plans but I will save those for when they are starting to happen.

The immediate plan is to get it running and driving again, Then get it back close to stock and start from there.

Right now the list is in this order.

    1. Get it running/driving again(Duh).
    2. Lots/Shitloads of misc matinence stuff.
    3. Replace the top/seals/cables.
    4. Suspension/Brakes.
    5. Fix the body/Add some Mtech goodies from Ebay.de.
    6. Paint
    7. Fix the interior.
    8. Get underpants
    9. ??????.
    10. Profit.

Here it is in the field still.

It had been sitting there for about a year.

    Back at my house.

    The donor car.

Starting to break down the motor to pull it out.

A little salvation from the sun.

    Starting to pull The M20/Tranny.

    Coming along...

    Almost there!

    Whahhh?!?!

Ok back to what I was doing...

    Wait WTF?!?!? AGAIN?!?!?

Jesus, Lets get this thing out...

This fell out when the engine was vertical....

I figure I know what most of it is so far, Cant wait to see the inside of that blown motor... lol

    Obligatory engine bay shot.

    There we go!

    Before the first cleaning.

    Before second cleaning.

I did one more cleaning but didn't take pics... lol. I wanted it to be nice and clean till I do my motor swap.

And right now I am in the process of pulling my strong running M20 out of My IS. I will update with more pics tomorrow night.

I got started late today, I was able to get the other car fully prepped to pull the motor tomorrow morning.

The old lady next door to me came over while I was working and was asking about what I was doing, She was blown away at what I as doing in my driveway lol. She really got a kick out of it.

    And here are some pics.

    **UPDATE**

Well I got out early this morning and got the motor pulled out and pushed up as far as I can get it in my driveway, Wish I could get it in the garage but my roommates Toyota Cressida with a spun bearing is in the way. AND my IS is behind it with no motor in it now lol. So we have 3 inoperative cars in the driveway right now! I am waiting on some motor mounts to get here so I can put it back in the cabbie, I am gonna do some gaskets, water pump, timing belt, and a few other things while its out then back in it goes.

    Some pics!

I took off much less from this M20.

    Almost there...

I took these, Washed up, And came in here to load these pics and eat some lunch.

The motor is hanging from the front hook, And a wood block is under the tranny. I wish I had a better way to work on it but I cant get it in the damn garage.

And here is the blown M20 hiding out behind my cabbie till I get this done, I am gonna pull the head and intake stuff, It might have survived the thrown rod undamaged if it happened on the down stroke. If that stuff is good then it will go up for sale. Then I will put the auto and block in my wrecked IS and call the scrap guy(After I take what I want from it).

I will update this post later.

Nice find for $700! Great starting point especially since you've got a donor car.

Oh man I cant wait to be cruising around the lake with the top down. I am gonna borrow my fathers orbital buffer to clean up the paint some, Also gonna take off the shitty pinstripes. Once I get it running and driving I am gonna take my fathers truck(That I have been stuck driving since my car got R3V'd) To a few Pick'n'Pulls in San Antonio. Going to try and find a frontend and the rest of the tranny stuff.

Also anyone know where I can get a rear driver side window? I thought it was just rolled down but it is gone... lol

If you can't find one nearby, European Import Auto Parts in Knoxville TN has 2 e30 verts. 865-945-1184. I bought some parts there last week. Good people to deal with.
