Big thanks to robertK and his gay cats for posting this up. This bitch will be done this weekend, not bad for 5weeks, about 15 days. I hope it will keep me happy for some time, the wife is pissed about the amount of time and money I've put into this fucker in the last month.

The headers are ebay specials from china. They are actualy very good quality. They might be a pain to put on with the motor in the car. - think that they were around 150 or so. They sound badass without the rest of the exhaust on.

Can't wait to see the car in person. Only about a month 'till the Southeast Fall Rally. All I have left to do is replace my rear sway bar. Done 9/16/08. I'm ready!

That motor looks really good, esp. with the red accents. What kind of paint is that, Duplicolor engine enamel? BTW, with the 5 speed swap, can you spell out what you got to do for the reverse light harness spliceage?

robertK wired up the reverse light so shoot him a PM. All the paint is Duplicolor high temp engine enamel.

I drove here home from robert's house tonight and enjoyed it. Granted it does not have the front bumper, headlights, grills, etc.... but it ran like a champ. Pics to come.

Nice build! Do you find it easier putting the engine in from the bottom?
Is this a stupid question? :)

Not a stupid question at all.

YES!!! We have put in 2 motors like this and it is very easy.

                              1. Hang motor from engine lift.
                              2. Attach transmission.
                              3. Attach subframe / steering rack.
                              4. Lower onto jack.
                              5. Slide under car. My jackstands don't go high enough so you need 2 people to pick up the front of the car while one person slides it under. It is not that heavy.
                              6. Hook up to engine lift.
                              7. Lift up into place. You will need the jack and some blocks to pick up the rear of the transmission to lift it evenly. Make sure that the steering knuckle lines up with the rack.
                              8. Bolt in subframe / transmission mount.
                              9. Add struts, rotors, control arms, drive shaft, clutch lines, etc.....
                              10. Drink victory beer.

This is much easier than puting it in from the top with the transmission already attached. Last weekend we droped an engine out of a car using this method in less than 3 hours. You could easily remove and put in an engine and transmission in 7 hours like this.
