Instead of yardwork, I chose to do this today...

Hanging around the house on my day off today, I decided to be somewhat constructive towards the e30 instead of doing yardwork.

I decided to paint the faded gray rear parcel deck black. Here are some pics to go with it. Right now, the paint is drying, but I'll include final installed pics later today.

It looks great! I am going to do the exact same thing to mine soon. Any pointers/tips/suggestions on applying the dye? I purchased a can of VHT carpet dye a while back for this job but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I need to do this on my M... The black has faded to purple...

Does it look that uneven in person, or is just because of the camera?

Glad I got a recovered one from Luke.

Looks like shit . Seriously .

Any one else who is planning on doing this do your self a favor and use real spray dye for fabric or vinyl NOT regular spray paint .

i painted mine with VHT black carpet spray paint, looks perfect and looks factory, not uneven, you wouldnt ever no it was painted by looking at it other than its black and not purple like everyone elses.

Do you have to take out the backseat to remove that shelf?

Well, posterity, you will never know what it cost us to preserve your freedom. I only hope that you will make a good use of it. If you do not, I shall repent in heaven that I ever took half the pains to preserve it.

So just pull up on the bottom with my hands. Then remove the two bolts on the back, slide up and out and its off? :) I think I'll go try.
